Biography: Jane Davis McCain. Born in Lake Village, Arkansas, on June 29, 1927, twin daughter of Edward Lee Davis and Alma Carter Davis. Died January 16, 2019, in Memphis. She graduated from Southwestern at Memphis (now Rhodes College) in 1950 with a B.A. in English, and worked for a short time for MidSouth Gas Co. in Lake Village. During the 1970?s she did graduate work toward a master?s degree in Library Science at the University of Arkansas in Little Rock. She married Lloyd Breckenridge McCain in 1952. They had two children, and moved to Little Rock in 1957. She was devoted to her family, and was a loving wife, mother, sister, and daughter. Her parents taught her the value of community service, and she followed that tradition throughout her life. She was one of the 1,281 members of the Women?s Emergency Committee to Open Our Schools that worked to re-open Little Rock?s public high schools in 1958-59. She served a term on the Pulaski County Quorum Court. At St. Vincent Medical center, she volunteered in the outpatient department for 16 years, served as president of the Auxiliary, and was a member of the Foundation Board. She served as president and chair of the Board of Directors of the Shepherd?s Center of Little Rock (now LifeQuest of Arkansas), as well as serving on the Shepherd?s Centers of America Board of Trustees. A faithful member of Second Presbyterian Church since 1957, she served her church in many capacities: as elder, clerk of the Session, librarian, Committee Chair of Education and Stewardship committees, and president of Presbyterian Women at her home church and at the Presbytery level. She also served on the stewardship committee and the permanent judicial commission of the Presbytery. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd McCain, and her twin sister, Anne Davis Toppins. Survivors include her son Davis McCain and wife Jenny, of Memphis; daughter Marian McCain Olson and husband Jeff, of Durham, North Carolina; four grandchildren: Adrienne McNair and husband John, Lloyd Olson, Carter Olson, and Stella McCain; and one great-granddaughter, Lowell Carter McNair. Her funeral will be Saturday, February 9, 2019 at 1 p.m. at 2nd Presbyterian Church in Little Rock. The service will be followed by a reception and then burial at Mount Holly Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Second Presbyterian Church in Little Rock or to LifeQuest of Arkansas.

Dearest Davis and Marian. I think about your Mom every single day and have only just learned she passed into spirit several years ago. I was deep in my own struggle at that time, ultimately losing my Tim in 2020 and Daddy in 2021. I just want you to know how much I loved her and cherished her time as my neighbor. I often tell people how we would stand on her porch and "yell" at cars going the wrong way-then giggling with regret at our outburst!! She often called for me to bring the girls over to see a turtle. And the girls loved the ducks she would put in her yard at Easter. As a relatively "young" widow on Shadow Lane I find myself thinking about her and reflecting on how brave and involved she remained her entire life. Her memory will always be a blessing to me and I know to all of you. Please know how much she was loved and admired! With love and thanksgiving for your precious Momma. Susan

John 5:28,29-?Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out...?

Revelation 21:3-5-?....And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.?
