Biography: Walter Butler Walker, Jr., 85, died on November 10, 2018. Born November 12, 1932 in Helena, Arkansas to Walter B. and Dorothy Lishman Walker. He graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in 1950 and attended Cincinnati College of Embalming, Arkansas State College and UALR. In his lifetime, he worked for Citizens Funeral Home, both West Helena and West Memphis, Gross Mortuary, Hot Springs; Heath Funeral Home, Paragould; and Healy and Roth, Little Rock. Changing careers in the 1970s, he was successively Traffic Manager for Darragh Company, Mountaire Feeds and Orbit Valve Company where he retired in 1992. During the Korean War, he served with the U.S. Army, Corps of Engineers stationed in France. In 1966 he married Annette McClendon, who died in 2003. In 2007 he married Jacqueline Stucker Wright, whom he first met in 1946. During his professional life he was past president of the Central Arkansas Transportation Club, Delta Nu Alpha transportation fraternity, and past chair of the Greater Little Rock Chamber of Commerce Transportation Council. He was registered to practice before the Interstate Commerce Commission and Federal Maritime Commission. He was a member of the Association of Transportation Practitioners, Certified Claims Professional Accreditation Council, He was active in the Arkansas Railroad Club, Little Rock Propeller Club, and Southwest Shippers Advisory Board. After he retired he continued to be active in the Arkansas Railroad Club, volunteered as a Tax-Aide for AARP preparing income tax returns and worked the polls during elections. He was also active in the Pulaski County Master Gardeners, the Arkansas Supreme Court Historical Society and served on the board of the Arkansas Chamber Singers. Walter and Jackie enjoyed travel and made numerous trips domestically and internationally. He was a member of St. Mark?s Episcopal Church. Survivors include his wife, Jackie, his sister, Charlotte Phillips of ElDorado, his niece, Suzanne Phillips, ElDorado, nephew, M.N. ?Tripp? Phillips III of New York City, three step-sons, Robert Wright IV of Oklahoma City, John Wright and David Wright of Little Rock, 4 step-grandchildren and 7 step-great grandchildren. Walter was predeceased by his parents and his younger brother, Jo Mitchell Walker. Services will be conducted on Friday, November 16 at 1 p.m. at St. Mark?s Episcopal Church, 1000 North Mississippi, with interment in St. Mark?s columbarium. The family wishes to express gratitude to the University of Arkansas Medical Center for the tender care he received there during his last illness. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be sent to St. Mark?s Memorial Fund, 1000 North Mississippi, Little Rock, AR 72207, or to the Arkansas Chamber Singers, Post Office Box 21002, Little Rock, AR 72221, or the Jean McClendon Nursing Scholarship at the University of Arkansas College of Nursing.

The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his people. And God himself will be with them. And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away".

So very sorry to lose Walter. He always had some interesting stories to amuse us. Glad we were able to visit, at the Gridiron Cast Party.
Walter enriched our lives, and, gave us good memories to cherish.

Worked with Walter in the 70s at Mountaire. I had many long very interesting conversations with Walter. He was a many of much knowledge and remember how he loved his trains. Sorry we lost touch and sorry for your loss. Sounds as though he lived a full and wonderful life.

I so enjoyed getting to know Walter through the Pulaski County Master Gardeners. He and Jackie planned such fun trips for PCMG. My thoughts and prayers are with Jackie at this time.
