My sincere condolence to the family of Sallie Merritt Starker. Sallie was the great granddaughter of N.B. Merritt of Duluth, an historical figure and one of the seven Iron Men of the Missabe Range. Her immediate family had a strong military background; brother Thomas was killed during WW II in Holland; her father Carlton retired as a Colonel with 34 years service; her husband was a BG. She had a long and full life.

Sally was a good person and my mother-in-law for 19 years. We were contentious in the beginning but friendly in the end. She will be missed.
