Biography: Patricia Maguire Murphy (Paddy), 65, passed on Sunday, August 12, 2018 with her family by her side at CHI St. Vincent Infirmary in Little Rock. She is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, Patrick Murphy II of Little Rock; numerous nieces and nephews; and many close friends. She was born on September 6, 1952 and was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Frank C Maguire, Jr. and Doris Willis Maguire, and her brother, Michael David Maguire all of Augusta, Arkansas. She was a 1970 graduate of Laura Conner High School in Augusta and later graduated from the University of Arkansas with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications in 1976. She retired in 2008 after working at the Arkansas Arts Center and then for 28 years with the Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism as Director of Historical Resources and Museum Services. Patricia was force of nature and stole my heart in 1976. She always felt a real connection and love for animals. To quote Kinky Friedman on the loss of a favorite pet: ?People may surprise you with unexpected kindness. Dogs have a depth of loyalty that often we seem unworthy of. But the love of a cat is a blessing, a privilege in this world. They say when you die and go to heaven all the dogs and cats you?ve ever had in your life come running to meet you. Until that day?? In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Second Presbyterian Church in Little Rock and the Pulaski County Humane Society. A private interment with family is planned for Saturday, August 18, 2018. A visitation and celebration of Paddy?s life will follow Saturday afternoon from 1:00-3:00pm at 10 Chenal Circle in Little Rock. Cremation services are entrusted to Ruebel Funeral Home, please sign the online condolence book at www.ruebelfuneralhome.com

I just found out that Paddy passed away. Paddy and I worked together at DWS and from the moment we met there was an instant connection. She gave me so much encouragement and support that the day of my wedding my entire family fell in love with her, just as I did. I will always have a piece of her with me.....I can look back at my wedding pictures and there she is....To her family, "Thank you for sharing her with me. She will truly be missed." Rest in Love my friend!

Dear Patrick and Family,

I was saddened to learn of Paddy's passing. I worked with you both many years ago through the Arkansas Arts Council when I was with the SE Arkansas Arts and Science Center. I remember both Paddy and you with great fondness. As others have already said, she was a force of nature. May light perpetual shine upon her. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.

Sorry to hear of Paddy's passing. What a darling picture you put in the obituary! I'm sure it is the first Kinky Friedman quote to show up in an obit around here. Thinking of you.

I send my deepest sympathy to Paddy's family at her loss. I have wonderful memories of growing up with Paddy. Hours of laughter and play. A shared love for animals especially our cats. Going to high school together and playing in the band. Sharing the same birthday month. I can hear her voice and laughter in my mind. May God give you comfort in your loss.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I worked with Paddy for many years at Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism. I will always remember her for her sarcastic, sharp wit and the many laughs we shared at work as well as the many arguments we had over politics. I will miss her friendship. May she rest in peace.

My wife, Peggy and I were very sad to hear of the passing of "Paddy". Paddy was an incredible young lady and it is so sad to hear of her passing just two years after the passing of my best Mike, her brother. At least Mike and Paddy are both now at peace and will suffer no more. Our condolences to all of Paddy's family and many friends.

I grew up in Augusta, Ark. with Paddy in the 50s/60s, and then we both went our separate ways. She was always our spunky little Paddy and everyone knew her and loved her, and her brother Mike, and her Mom and Dad. When FB started up, we re-connected once again, and I had many wonderful conversations with her, talking about everything from old family stories, to everyday news and politics. I loved her political Democratic fire . She will be missed by so many. Till we met again, my friend. You will never be forgotten here. My love and condolences to your family..

Paddy, how I remember you as a child, riding all over Augusta on your bike; you owned the world! Mike, my age, was my friend, you were his "little sister" & always around. Then it was many years before we reconnected as "adult" peers. Yet, still, you were my "little one" and I felt so protective of you through your illnesses and admired your resilience through all your battles. I love you forever and will miss my sweet, intelligent, quirky, precious friend all my days. Thank you for the laughter and the friendship we shared these past few years. I take solace in knowing you are now in your original family circle - welcomed with open arms by Our Savior, along with Dr. Frank, Mrs. Doris & Mike - loved and petted once again! I thank God for letting us share this last part of your journey. "We are all just walking each other home." - Ram Dass. My heart, sympathies, condolences and prayers to Pat and your entire family.

I worked with Paddy for 28 years at the Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism. We had many a lively conversation about the Razorbacks plus we were both history buffs. I think about here whenever a major happening with the Razorbacks takes place.

She oversaw some of the state's finest museums while there and did an excellent job.
'
My heartfelt sympathies to her family and friends. I continue to pray for you all.

So sorry to lose Paddy. Her brother, Mike, and I were good friends in grade school, till I left Augusta. Paddy was an enthusiastic and indefatigable political foe on Facebook, with exchanges we both enjoyed. Her Saturday morning Classic Cartoons were a special gift she gave us. A sweet Southern lady. May God rest and bless her immortal soul.

Our bond was strong enough to last a lifetime. Paddy was always part of my life. We were in the nursery together, classmates at school, and we graduated from the U of A. She was in my wedding. I was the one who made the calls, but she was the one with the stories to tell. I will miss her humor, her honesty, her curiosity, her intelligence, her talents, her giggles. I?ll miss her. To Pat and her family, may the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord give you strength and peace for the coming days. I?ll will keep my forever friend in my heart.
?Love you First Friend.?

I was so sorry to hear about Paddy. I graduated high school with her and we lived across the street from each other for many years. We hung out together quite a bit and rode to school together every morning even though the high school was only one block from our houses! I will always have fond memories of Paddy and I am so sorry for your loss.

As a native of Augusta, I have a deep love for the Maguire family. I am proud to have been one of Paddy?s Facebook friends and have enjoyed so much discussing politics, growing up in Augusta, and her cats. There is a true bond between the Augusta Girls and we will all miss her and her fearless statements. Prayers going up for all her loved ones.

What can I say about Patty that hasn?t been said, I really enjoyed growing up with Patty, her Dad Dr. Frank and Miss Doris, and of course her dear brother and my dear friend Michael.
She and I would talk about how I can still smell the scents of Dr. Franks office. We also have our love of animals and especially Cats!!
I will miss her posts on FB and her putting cartoons on Saturdays for me and others to enjoy.
Patty, go Rest In Peace now with your family and know how much you where loved and will be missed!
God Bless You...
