Biography: Kathleen Ledwidge Wright Atkins died July 14, 2018, in Little Rock. A fifth-generation Little Rocker, she was born August 15, 1942, to the late Edward Ledwidge and Rosemary Tuohey Wright. She is survived by her daughters, Catherine Page Atkins of Los Angeles and Mary Wright Atkins Mulhollan of Little Rock. Also surviving are her son-in-law, Jack Chance Mulhollan, and her grandchildren, James Faulkner Mulhollan and Charles ?Charlie? Brasfield Mulhollan, as well as her sister Bridget Wright Warner of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Her 44-year marriage to the late James Howard ?Bum? Atkins and the raising of Page and Mary brought her profound happiness. ?Bummie and Kat? had a grand romance and Kathleen loved it when people teased her about the way she adoringly looked at him. She was grateful for the enduring closeness and devotion she and Bum shared with their daughters and was thrilled in their adulthood to consider Page and Mary her friends as well as her daughters. A great conversationalist, Kathleen loved to discuss current events, politics, history, movies, and the English language, among myriad other topics. She could be counted on to spark curiosity, debate and peals of laughter. Preceding her in death were her brother, Edward ?Ned? Ledwidge Wright, Jr., her sister, Rosemary ?Missy? Wright Anderson, her brother-in-law, Charles ?Buddy? Atkins and wife Martha, sisters-in law, Ruth Atkins English and husband Travis, Ruby Gene ?Sucka? Atkins Fincher and husband Harold, and father-and- mother- in-law William Ruby ?WR? and Trula Mae Holt Atkins. Kathleen had a host of surviving beloved nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews, in both the Wright and Atkins families, with whom she maintained warm relations throughout their lives. She had many dear and close friends, both lifelong and new, whose love she cherished and company she adored. Kathleen felt lucky that, in addition to her wonderful human companions, she knew many remarkable dogs and cats who further enriched her life. Chief among her canine and feline friends was her dog, Hawkeye McCain Atkins. Kathleen attended Rosemont College in Rosemont, Pennsylvania, and was graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1964. Her sorority was Chi Omega. During her married life, she enjoyed memberships in The Junior League of Little Rock and The Country Club of Little Rock, and volunteer work with the former ACRC, RAIN and literacy efforts. There will be a visitation at Ruebel Funeral Home on Thursday, July 19, 2018 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to CARE for Animals or The Central Arkansas Library System.

Page and Mary --

Colette and I loved Kathleen dearly, as we loved her husband and your father Bum; both were taken from you and us much too soon.

Kathleen was filled with mischievous good humor and strong opinions, but was a southern lady through and through. We were especially delighted by her witty and amusing blog on manners!

It is solace for us to know that Kathleen and Bum are in heaven now with the good Lord, lovers again for eternity, and that our unhappy loss is their joyous gain.

Just 4 months ago, I had to deliver the news that your best neighborhood friend and classmate had passed away. Carolyn Ferrill Dunnigan always wanted to contact you when she was in town to catch up on all the news. Now you have joined her and it saddens me. Dear Page and Mary, my sister always kept up with what was going on in your lives and your accomplishments My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

I have known Kathleen and Bum well for as long as I can remember , and I was born in 1963. They were one of my parents' closest couple-friends and many great times were had in the roaring 70's and 80's. Kathleen was always so enthusiastic and genuinely interested in what you were doing. She was a special lady , and for all who knew her well , their lives were enriched for it. Remembering the good times , you will be missed Kathleen. Carry on , Paige and Mary. Your loved ones will help to comfort you. Andrew.

Page and Mary:

My heart hurts for you. Your mother was extraordinary and I know that nothing will ever fill the Kathleen-sized hole she leaves in your lives. She was a hoot (and that is one of the highest compliments I can give) and definitely made Edgehill a fun neighborhood in which to grow up. Much love to both of you.

Page and Mary, I pray you will be comforted by your faith and many good memories of both of your parents, and may you find strength in the love of family and your many friends. A light has dimmed in my world. Kahleen and I have stayed in touch all these years. I will always hold dear her prodigious vocabulary, multitude of ideas, and abundance of laughter and love of her dear Bum and Page and Mary.

Dear Page and Mary,
I send you my prayers and love. May the angels in heaven embrace your beautiful mom and surround you both with heavens light. Although I couldn't meet her in person I could feel her glowing light. I will cherish memories of Page talking on the phone and letting me listen in. Your mom was gorgeous and stylish and had an elegant home. She will continue to inspire me forever. Love you.

Dear Paige and Mary, I consider it an honor to have known your mother. The short times that we were neighbors was a treasure. She was a woman of grace and style and wit that was spot on. In my office I keep little thank you notes from her. She certainly brought a smile. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Sincerely, doug terry

I am so sorry for your loss reading about your loved one it?s evident they were loved and that Is a reflection of who that person was.A comforting scripture i find helpful during times as these is Acts 24:15 ?And I have hope toward God, which hope these men also look forward to, that there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous.

Since we know God can not lie we know this will come true and you will be reunited with your loved one hear hear their laugh or talk to them and create more memories ! Revelation 21:4 And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes and death will be no more neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore the former things have passed away .

What a hopeful future we have when God?s Kingdom will rule !! To learn about this kingdom and other future blessings that will affect us all please visit www.JW.org

The stars in the heavens will not shine quite as bright now that the light of the amazing, lovely Kathleen has left us. She will be so dearly missed, she is the type of person you?re so rarely blessed to get to meet and become friends with. To her friends and family, I know we all share in the delight of having known and loved this amazing woman and she will always hold the highest place in our hearts.

Deaest Nieces of Mine:
My precious baby sister Kathleen was also my first best friend; she'll ever live as "Queenie" in my heart, her family nickname. As you know, my bad back prevents my being with you but, as we've spoken, I'm with you in spirit as we mourn your Mother's passing. All My Love, Auntie ~B
