Biography: Joseph “Joe” Ferrell Fort, of Little Rock, was a kind, gentle, and loving soul who left this earth to dwell in the House of the Lord on April 27, 2007. He was 63. Born in Dekalb, Mississippi on June 21, 1943, son of Boykin and Hannah Fort, Joe attended Mississippi State University where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. He practiced electrical engineering for over 40 years and was a licensed Professional Engineer in 35 states. Specializing in commercial projects, he engineered many hospitals, nursing homes and hotels, and was a member of the American Consulting Engineers Council. Joe leaves behind his wife of 27 years, Camille, whom he adored. One of his many loves was attending horse shows with her and being “her driver”. On their estate, Big Joe enjoyed spending time on the veranda overlooking the Arkansas River with his faithful dog Tai Pan and entertaining the children of friends and family with rides in the front end loader of his Kubota tractor. More than being a professional engineer, he also loved working with computers, any electronic gadget and simply innovative with new technologies. Joe could wire just about anything. His surviving family members include; Brian, Kelli, Madison and Olivia Fort; Laura, Quint, Macy, and Seth McCammon; David, Tracy, Jewell, David Jr. and John Hudson Fort; Sterling, Ashley and Will Fisher; Steven Fort; Ron Burrow; Sarah Kitchens, and David Wright. A celebration of Joe’s life will be held on Monday at 2:00 PM at the Quapaw Quarter United Methodist Church with Rev. Bill Elliot and Rev. Betsy Singleton officiating. A gathering of family and friends will be held between 4- 6:00 PM today at Ruebel Funeral Home. Joe loved to share his knowledge and time, and so in lieu of flowers, his family requests memorials be shared with the Pulaski County Humane Society, 14600 Colonel Glenn Rd, Little Rock, AR or the Quapaw Quarter United Methodist Church, 1601 S. Louisiana St., Little Rock, AR.
