Biography: Freedom rang on March 14, 2018, when Robert Max Mitcham entered the Kingdom of Heaven. He was seventy two years old. Joining him there in celebration are his parents, Max Arlington Mitcham and Sara Preddy Mitcham of Smackover, Arkansas. Robert was born on September 12, 1945, and grew up in Smackover. He graduated from Smackover High School, and played football and baseball for the ?Home of the Buckaroos.? He attended the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, where he was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity, and graduated with a bachelor?s degree in finance. It was there where he met the love of his life, Nancy Lee Tremble, from Kansas City. They married August 10, 1968 in a double wedding with her older sister Barbara and Bob Molinaro. This August will be their fiftieth wedding anniversary. Robert started his career at First National Bank in Little Rock as a correspondent banker, where he and Nancy enjoyed entertaining business colleagues and friends. Later, he pursued a career in residential and commercial real estate. Perhaps one of his more significant roles was as Coach Mitcham at Junior Deputy Baseball Park over little league baseball. His lifelong love for the game spans generations, from coaching his son to watching his three grandsons enjoy a love for the game. Robert had a very charismatic personality that included a gift of storytelling that was one of a kind. Other favorite pastimes of his were duck hunting, fishing, golf, a love for Labrador retrievers, and spending time as ?PPaw? with his grandchildren. Robert is survived by his wife of fifty years, Nancy; his sister, Kay Mitcham Urbani; his three children: Lindsey Mitcham Lorence (Rick), Lauren Mitcham Thurman (Jason); and Max Taylor Mitcham (Brooke). He also leaves a strong legacy in seven grandchildren: Katherine Graham Thurman, Benjamin Scott Thurman, Luke ArlingtonLorence, Gabe Tremble Lorence, McCollum Lee Mitcham, Harper Rose Mitcham, and Ada Blair Mitcham. A celebration of Robert?s life will be held on Monday, March 19, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at the Church at Rock Creek under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home. Robert?s family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers at Hospice Home Care for the love and care that they have shown them during these last few weeks. In addition, Robert and his family are forever indebted to Dr. Joseph M. Beck, Karen, Ron, Pat, and staff for the treatment, encouragement, and support that you have given us over the past two years. Your gifts ring eternal.

We are so sorry to learn of the loss of "Coach" Mitcham. We have very warm memories of the years our son Andrew played baseball with Taylor and
was fortunate to be a recipient of "Coach's" wisdom. In fact to help Andrew hurdle his hesitation of swinging the bat, Robert took a full day to have Andrew swing at tennis balls from an automatic dispenser. He always did more than the extra. Our hearts go out to you so sending Grace to carry you all as long as you need,
John, Karen, Andrew &( Joel, Micah, Nikolai)

Nancy and Taylor, so very sorry to read of Robert's death. So enjoyed our friendship that arose as a mutual fondness for dogs.

My most sincere condolences,

I played football with Robert at Smackover High School. All of us had a very strong brotherhood and we had a love for each other that will never end. What we had together was very special and Robert was a big part of it. He will be missed. God bless

I taught Robert and Kay when they were in the fourth grade. Even then, Robert was a charming, smiling little boy who was a great story teller. His grandfather and my father were Mobil employees. My husband worked with Max Mitchum at the Smackover Bank for over 14 years. All the family are so dear. My sympathy goes out to Nancy and Kay. The Lord in His precious promises has assured us of a blessed reunion one day with those we have loved and lost. With loving sympathy.

My prayers and sympathy go out to the Mitcham family. I met Robert through baseball and enjoyed every moment that I experienced with him. He was a true friend and we had some great conversations. I had the pleasure of coaching his son and Robert and I had some great baseball talks. I consider it an honor to have known him and I am thankful for the fun times spent with him. It truly is a sad day because a good man has left us physically, but Robert will remain with us in our hearts and memories.

Nancy, Taylor, and family,
So sorry to hear about Robert. My thoughts and prayers are with each of you.
You know Johnny was there holding the gate open for him. They probably are having a great time talking about the boys and baseball. Kevin still remembers ?ash man? as he remembers his magic trick. I will see y?all Monday.
