Biography: Lillian Swaim Robinson, born February 24, 1922, passed away peacefully at 96 years old on Monday, February 26, 2018. She was born in England, Arkansas to Lillie Mae White Swaim and James Edward Swaim, Sr. She graduated from England High School and attended Ouachita Baptist College where she obtained her degree in Home Economics. She married Wallace R. Robinson on July 16, 1943. They lived in Hollywood, FL while he attended Naval Flight School and then moved to Miramar, CA. She returned home when he was sent overseas to fight in WWII in the Pacific. Their daughter, Jean Robinson Wallace, was born November 6, 1944. Within two months Wallace Robinson was killed in action during a flight mission near Japan and is interred at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific in Honolulu, Hawaii. Lillian taught school in England for several years before moving to Little Rock where she worked for the Veterans Administration Hospital. She then worked for the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in the School of Nursing for two years. She then transferred to the School of Pharmacy where she was the Registrar. She retired from UAMS in 1987 after 27 years with the College of Pharmacy. She was active for many years with AAUW (American Association of University Women) and served in several capacities, eventually serving as President. During retirement she volunteered at her church, Pulaski Heights United Methodist. She is survived by her daughter, Jean Robinson Wallace; son-in-law, Richard Wallace; her granddaughter, Christy Wallace Kitchens; grandson, Scott Wallace; three great-grandchildren, Cody Wallace, Korbin Kitchens, and Greyson Wallace as well as many nephews and nieces. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband who was killed in action in WWII; sister, Ann Swaim Holland Boyd; brother, James Edward Swaim, Jr.; sister, Betty Swaim Ramsey; brothers-in-law, Russell Holland, Tom Boyd, and William H. Ramsey, and sister-in-law, Barbara Swaim. The service will be held at Mulberry Cemetery in England, Arkansas on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. with a visitation at the cemetery thirty minutes prior to the service. Pallbearers are her nephews, Tom Ramsey, Dennis Ramsey, Bill Ramsey, Jay Holland, Edward Swaim, Christian Swaim, and Matthew Swaim. Honorary Pallbearers are great-nephews, James Swaim, John Swaim, and Connor Swaim. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church or UAMS College of Pharmacy.
