Biography: Ronald Lee Allen, 78, died Monday, February 19, 2018 with his family by his side. He was born on June 3, 1939 in Monticello, AR. to Bishop Ray and Flora Carmon Calhoun Allen. Ronald attended Monticello High School. After high school he joined the United States Army, where he served for 4 years. Several years later he moved to Little Rock, where he later met his wife Carol. They lived in Little Rock for the remainder of his life. Ronald retired from the Arkansas Democrat Gazette in 2009, after working in the newspaper business for over 40 years. Ronald loved watching the Arkansas Razorbacks and the Los Angeles Dodgers. He had a passion for German Shepard dogs and had several as pets throughout his life. Ronald also loved spending time with his family. Ronald is survived by his wife, Carol Winburne Allen of Little Rock, daughter, Leslie Daniel (Brian) of Beebe, AR.; sister, Mary Slaughter (Earl), brother, Jack Allen (LaVeda), sister, Marion Allen, sister, Brenda Jiles, all of Monticello, AR., sister, Wanda Hudson of Farmersville, TX, and two grandchildren, Jacob and Bridget Daniel of Beebe, AR. Ronald is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, E.L. Allen, Lawrence Allen, Rutledge Allen, Bishop Ray Allen, Jr., Bruce Allen, and twin brother Donald Allen, and a sister, Mavis McCone. Visitation will be held from noon to 1pm on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Ruebel Funeral Home. A celebration of life will immediately follow.
