Biography: George Scott Scruggs, 67, of Little Rock, died at home October 31, 2017. He was born March 26,1950, in Pine Bluff to the late Grover and Wanda Lankford Scruggs, and was also predeceased by his brother, Gee Scruggs of Houston. Scott attended Watson Chapel schools and graduated from the UA Fayetteville where he was a member of the Kappa Sigma fraternity. Accomplished in sports as a youth, he became an excellent tennis player as an adult. The tennis team was a close-knit group of friends who also canoed the rivers of Arkansas, camped, and socialized together for many years. He enjoyed his work and the many friendships developed during 23 years with First Arkansas Insurance. Scott's friends and customers knew him to be a man of his word, generous with his time and energies. He was a knowledgeable, willing, and tireless worker, and enjoyed-- at least endured-- endless projects proposed by his wife, Diane Schrantz. Survivors also include daughter, Caitlan, granddaughter, Haiden, of Junction City, Kansas, and brother, Richard Scruggs of Pine Bluff. Many thanks to Tonya and Felicia of Hospice Home Care and to dear friends and family who made possible his remaining at home to the end. A gathering of friends will be held at Ruebel Funeral Home in Little Rock on November 15th, 2017 from 2:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association, 912 Killian Hill Road SW, Lilburn GA 30047, or Cure Alzheimer's Fund, 34 Washington Street, Suite 200, Wellesley Hills MA 02481, or the Humane Society of Pulaski County, 14600 Colonel Glenn Rd, Little Rock AR 72210, also online.

Diane,

So, so sorry about Scott's passing, and even more sorry that Kay and I did not keep up with Scott's health. He and I worked together for ten years at FAI, but then we had the opportunity to work together on a customer account for many years following my departure from FAI and Pine Bluff. We had so many great visits during those days. Back when we were having our pre-Christmas parties, Kay and I both always looked forward to you and Scott coming, and the fellowship that followed. This is a sad loss for everyone who knew Scott, but particularly for you. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you. May God bless and keep you in the years to come.

I am sad to hear this news. In 1978, I became the manager of the Flick Twin Cinema in Pine Bluff, working for Scott and his brother, along with Rick Beard and Robert Vogel. All four of those young men were very, very good to me and I will forever be grateful. Deepest sympathies to the family during this time of loss.

Having worked for Gee, Scott and the Scruggs family, for ten years in PB, it is so hard to believe Gee and Scott are now gone. They were fun to work with and my love goes out to Susannah, Rick, and Scott's family that I didn't get to meet. Rest in Peace, Scott.

We are so thankful to have known Scott, as a fellow choir member at First Methodist and as your sweet husband. You and he were a remarkable duo - there was nothing in the way of a home project that you two couldn't tackle together! He leaves such an empty spot. But many happy memories as well. I am in awe of the loving care, simple graciousness, and strength that you shared with him. Blessings, dear friend.

Scott was as good a friend as a person could have. That scowl hid a good heart and vibrant soul. Diane, I hope this knowledge makes your grief easier to bear.

Diane, I'm so very sorry for your loss. I did not have the privilege of knowing Scott for as long as I've known other good friends of mine, but he quickly came to be among my very best of friends, and I will miss him very much.
