Biography: Gerald Virgil Hammons, a lifelong resident of Little Rock, passed away on Saturday, April 7, 2007. He was born in Little Rock on July 21, 1926 to the late Wesley and Ina (Boyd) Hammons. After graduating from Little Rock High School, he served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Gerald graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1950 with a business degree and became a Certified Public Accountant. Following several years at Baptist Hospital, he worked at Wittenberg, Deloney, and Davidson as business manager for 40 years until his retirement. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Wanda Rider Hammons; daughters, Brenda Butler of Little Rock and Sharon Danysh of Floresville, Texas; a son, Dr. Grant Hammons of Billings, Montana; eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 10, 2007 in the Chapel of Ruebel Funeral Home officiated by Rev. Jason R. Engler. Burial will follow in the Arkansas State Veteran’s Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Baptist School of Nursing Scholarship Fund.
