Suni and family:

I am sorry for your loss. Bill was a special guy that helped getting my competitive running going back in the early 90s. He helped me in so many ways with all of his tips that made me a better runner (although nothing even close to what he was).

I remember all of the Sunday morning runs starting/ending at Harvest Foods on Kavanaugh, as well as our annual PO-PO runs on New Years Day.

Bill always kept us laughing during the runs and told us many, many stories about his upbringings in Little Rock. Moreover, he also shared stories about this military and civilian career.

I also remember the competitiveness between Bill and Hayes McKinney. They were great friends, but they competed in many, many races. That was always fun to watch and experience.

You could set your clock to Bill and his actions. He was a very determined individual and he was one heck of a great runner as well.

I appreciate all of the friendship and good times that I had with Bill (and Suni)The marathon trips to Dallas and Boston were always a lot of fun too.

My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. God gained a great person and distance runner! :-)

Bill was a special, special man. His laughter, infectious enthusiasm, love of life and incredible running stories kept us engaged and completely enthralled with him for hours. Bill was a true friend. Our hearts are heavy on hearing of his passing. We loved seeing him at the races, even as he ages, he was still considered quite a legend!! He will be remembered! He will be missed. What a guy!

So sad to hear of your loss Col. Bill!! Gonna miss seeing and talking football with you at the Athletic Club! You were a true inspiration! Very hard worker at the gym and didn't let anything get in your way! Even showed me some new exercises at the gym that helped me out big time! You motivated me to keep moving and not stopping no matter what!! So glad that I got the chance to meet you awhile back and thanks for being the person that you were! You would also root for my Ole Miss rebels as long as we weren't playing your team and I would most definitely root for your team! ROLL TIDE!
Prayers going out to the Hoffman family!!!

I am so sad to hear about this. I will miss him terribly! He gave me lots of advise on running and when I saw him a couple of weeks ago, he said don't ever stop running!! I know he is at a very peaceful place looking down on all of us right now.
