Biography: Betty Anne Peterson Rawn peacefully passed from this life to the next on her 94th birthday, January 10, 2017 in Little Rock, AR. She was born in 1923 in Galveston, Texas; the daughter of Lester and Elizabeth ?Bess? Reid Peterson. Betty Anne is preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Russell Disston Rawn; as well as her sister, Shirley and brother, Pete. Both she and Russ were early members of St. Michael?s Episcopal Church in Little Rock. She is survived by four sons and their wives, Doug and Lynda Daily Rawn of Little Rock; Bobby and Debbie Wools Rawn of Maumelle; Greg and Barbara Hinson Rawn of DeValls Bluff; and the Rev. Jeff and Cinde Matkin Rawn of Plano, Texas. Russ and Betty Anne were blessed with eleven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Betty Anne lived an extraordinary life and truly loved her family and friends. She was a very talented artist who enjoyed teaching students and family. Betty Anne also donated many of her works to charitable organizations across Little Rock and Central Arkansas. Before moving to Arkansas, she was involved in the Houston Junior Forum, a major service organization, proudly serving as president in the 1950s. When Betty Anne and Russ moved to Arkansas in 1962, they became passionately involved in their church at St. Peter?s Episcopal Church in Conway and then later at St. Michael?s Episcopal Church in Little Rock. She was an avid bridge player, always ready to entertain friends, thoroughly enjoyed gardening around the house, and loved having family around their house in Little Rock. In the last five years of her life, Betty Anne was a resident at the Ginny and Bob Shell Alzheimer?s Center at Parkway Village. Her family would like to thank her caregivers, Austin Lucas for the first three years and then, Sharon Hernandez, along with the rest of the Shell Center staff for the loving care given to Betty Anne since 2011. A memorial service will be held at St. Andrew?s Anglican Church, 8300 Kanis Rd., Little Rock, AR 72204 at 2:00 pm on Friday, January 13th. Interment of cremains will follow at St. Michael?s Episcopal Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer?s Arkansas (www.alzark.org) or Special Olympics (http://www.specialolympics.org).
