Biography: John Rae Osmundsen, 72, died in his Little Rock, Arkansas home Tuesday, January 3, 2017. He was born to Harold and Ella (Simpson) Osmundsen and raised in Chicago, Illinois. He was an Eagle Scout; he graduated Lane Tech High School in 1961 and Eastern Illinois University in 1966, as a member of Delta Sigma Pi. As a captain in the US Army, he once served as commander of the 407th RRD in Vietnam having received the Bronze Star and Army Commendation medals. The last 20 years were spent as a dedicated professional care giver for Integrity, Inc., Little Rock, Arkansas. He was an avid movie collector, political Twitter enthusiast, and founder of the 407th RDD website and related online groups for his ?little band of brothers? to reconnect and share stories. He was preceded in death by his wife of 34 years, Carole Jean Osmundsen. He is survived by his daughters, Jessica Osmundsen, Little Rock, Arkansas and Kari Stuckey (Stephen) with three granddaughters, Olivia, Zoey, and Skylee Stuckey of Cabot, Arkansas; brother, David Ralph Osmundsen (Judy) of Wheat Ridge, Colorado; nephew, Eric John Osmundsen (Jennifer) and niece, Karen Stiner (Rob) both of Brighton, Colorado. A graveside service will be held at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery, 1501 West Maryland Ave. Sherwood, Arkansas on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at 12:00 PM. Followed by a 1:00 PM memorial celebrating his life at the Sherwood Room, Sherwood Forest, 1111 West Maryland Ave. Sherwood, Arkansas, 72120.

Captain O: May you rest in peace Sir. Your watch is finally over and your reward for excellent service has begun. Thanks for the leadership that helped shape many of us young men in to what we are today. God bless.
