Biography: Elizabeth "Liz" Henderson, 61, passed away on December 31, 2016 at Hospice Home Care in Little Rock. She was born in Little Rock in 1955 to Thomas and Betty Williams. After receiving a BA degree, she later achieved a Master?s Degree at the UALR School of Social Work in 1985. Her early career was spent in both clinical and administrative positions at Centers for Youth and Families. The last 12 years of her career was at the Arkansas State Hospital as a monitor in the 911 program. She was a skilled and dedicated Mental Health Professional with deep compassion and respect for her clients. Liz loved to travel and had a keen interest in wildlife. In recent years, she and her husband participated in an EarthWatch sponsored trip to a remote nature reserve on the upper Amazon River in Peru. She also was an avid Bird watcher with an uncanny ability to spot eagles at Greers Ferry Lake where she and her husband spent many weekends at their cabin. Liz had many talents and her son and daughter knew her as a world-class mom. In addition to her abiding love for family, Liz possessed a sensitivity, generosity and a fun loving zest for living that gifted her with a remarkable number of genuinely close friends. The grace and courage in which she faced her diagnosis of pancreatic cancer was an inspiration to all who knew her. She is survived by her husband, Jerry Henderson, son, Eric Mortenson (Mai), daughter, Angela "Rosie" Hames (Brian), and grandson, Leon H. T. Mortenson. There will be a visitation Thursday, April 13, 5 to 7 PM with a Memorial Service on Friday, April 14 at 10 AM, both at Ruebel Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Heifer international or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Lorene and I send our condolences to Jerry and his extended family. As the next door neighbor it is still hard for me to drive down my driveway expecting to see Liz in her front yard. She always had a smile and was always pleasant as we discussed our personal ills and the world in general. It is sad that the world lost a beautiful person who was such a joy to be around. Liz is gone but not forgotten.

Last I spoke to Liz she shared with me that her cancer had returned and she was fighting it. She really was an amazing woman! I am one of her co-workers and I found her very knowledgable and easy to communicate with. She was a caring spirit. I will miss you, Liz.

I am so sad to learn of Liz's passing. What a wonderful, caring person. Although it's been years since I've seen her, I have pictures of her when we were 3 years old at birthday parties and great memories of growing up with her. Such a light to everyone around her. Her smile was amazing and her cheerfulness contagious. Rest in peace, dear one.

Condolences to Jerry, Jon, Eric, Mai, Leon, Rosie, Brian, and Liz's large circle of loving friends in the loss of her light, fun, warm presence. Liz positively touched so many people through her relationships?with family, friends, and clients. Liz set a wonderful example of living life to the fullest and making the best of whatever life sends one's way, including terminal illness. She managed to squeeze the good stuff out of each moment, including having a pajama party with family (and her beloved dog) in hospice! What an amazing and inspiring life!
