Biography: Betty Ruth Heimbach Davis of Little Rock died peacefully Saturday November 26 after courageously battling pancreatic cancer. She was born September 15, 1947 in El Dorado to Mary Margueret and Earl George Heimbach who predeceased her. Betty Ruth is survived by her husband, Bryan; her son, Matthew; her twin sister, Mary Earl Smith and husband Steve of Fayetteville; and her niece, Carrie Smith Hardin and family of Fayetteville. A graduate of El Dorado High School, she earned a Bachelor's Degree from Henderson State University in Arkadelphia and a Master?s Degree from the University of Central Arkansas in Conway. A strong supporter of the Little Rock Public Schools, Betty Ruth taught both at Washington Elementary and Jefferson Elementary and played a leading role in the 1980's to prevent Jefferson from being closed. In 1993 she received the Jane Mendel Volunteer of the Year award from the Volunteers in Public Schools. She later worked on constituent services in the Arkansas offices of Senator Dale Bumpers and Senator Blanche Lincoln. After retiring, she found much pleasure in working alongside Laura Stanley and the staff at Stanley Jewelers Gemologist in North Little Rock. Betty Ruth was a member of Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church, where she was active in children's and youth programs. She was past president of the Heights Neighborhood Association, past president of the Leawood Property Owners Association and loved traveling and gardening. Following a family columbarium service, a celebration of Betty Ruth's life will be held Thursday December 1 from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the Gathering Hall at Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church, 4823 Woodlawn Avenue in Little Rock.
