Biography: Beloved Little Rock native Elsie Elizabeth Shipp Crank, born on July 5, 1937, died in Little Rock on November 9, 2016. She was the daughter of Dr. Harvey and Kay Shipp. A graduate of Little Rock Central High School, Elsie attended William Woods College in Fulton, Missouri, and graduated from the University of Arkansas, where she was a loyal member of Pi Beta Phi Fraternity. Following college, she moved to Virginia where she met her husband of 56 years, Mallory Westcott Crank. Elsie and Mallory returned to Little Rock to raise their children, Wes and Katherine. They also enjoyed spending time at the lake in Hot Springs, a pastime she especially enjoyed with her son Wes and his family. Her favorite holiday was Halloween, at which time she dressed in full costume for both the school day and into the evening on her front porch giving treats to the neighborhood children. As a teacher she spent many years educating young children at The Anthony School and at East End Elementary. A member of the Little Rock Junior League and Scattered Seeds Garden Club, she gave fully to every venture in which she was involved. And her continuing love for Pi Beta Phi and her sorority sisters, which included her daughter, was lifelong. She was a life member of Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church. Elsie was a doting grandmother to grandsons Walker, Thomas & Max Crank of Little Rock and Andrew & Alan Market of Brentwood, TN. She leaves behind husband Mallory, son Wes Crank & wife Mauri of Little Rock, daughter Katherine Market & husband David of Brentwood, TN, sisters Sarah Kay Humphries and the late Dr. William Humphries, Jr of Little Rock, and Mary Schrader & husband Bruce of Benton, AR and 7 nephews - Harvey, Morgan, & Grant Humphries and David, Alan, Scott, & Thompson Schrader. Elsie deeply cared for her treasured caregivers especially Karma, Terri, Donna and Juanita. Always smiling and with a kind word for everyone, Elsie will be missed by all who knew her. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Humane Society of Pulaski County or the AR Alpha Pi Beta Phi House Fund, PO Box 445, Fayetteville, AR 72705-0445. Services will be held at Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church, 5823 Woodlawn on Monday, November 14, 2016 at 10:00 am. A visitation will be held Sunday, November 13, 2016 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Ruebel Funeral Home, 6313 W Markham, Little Rock, AR.
