Biography: Mr. Roy R. Moore, age 86, of Little Rock, died March 3, 2007. He was born on July 28, 1920, in Witcherville near Fort Smith to the late Roy and Carrie Moore. He enlisted in the Army Air Force in 1942 and served as a B-25 combat air pilot in the China-Burma-India Theater. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal, among other decorations. He continued to serve his country in the Air Force Reserve, retiring from flight status as a Major with 22 years service. In 1946 he began a career with the Veterans Administration, retiring in 1981 as Director of the Arkansas Regional Office. He subsequently was elected State Commander of the American Legion. In the 1950’s Roy participated in the construction of Oak Forest Methodist Church and remained active there until he transferred membership to Asbury United Methodist Church. Throughout his life, Roy remained an avid golfer and shared his enjoyment of the game with all those around him. He was a past president of Maumelle Country Club and remained an active golfer into his eighties. His life was marked with a constant concern for others and a deep devotion to his family. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, the former Florene White of Batesville, by his son, Bob Moore and Sue of Midlothian, Virginia, and by his two grandchildren, Paul Moore and his wife Kelly of Oxon Hill, Maryland and Emily Kuper and her husband Gil of Fayetteville, North Carolina. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 6, from 5 – 7:00 PM at Ruebel Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, March 7, in the Ruebel Chapel at 10:00 AM, burial will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park.
