Biography: Dean (Jeweldine) Carter Cargill was born on August 30, 1915, passed away on October 31, 2016. She was the second of five daughters and one son born to Arthur R. and Artie Veasey Carter of Veasey Township, near Monticello and Drew County. She is preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, Marie Echols, Colleen Creighton, Vonnie Daniels, and Lola McDaniel, as well as a son David Cargill and daughter Cathy Christeson. She is survived by her brother Jerry E. Carter of Mabelvale, and granddaughter Hannah Christeson of Little Rock, as well as several nieces and nephews. As did many young women of the World War II era, Dean worked in the war effort as a clerical assistant. She was married to Troy Cargill of Batesville. Following the war they lived and served for several years in Germany on government assignments before settling in the Baltimore area where they raised their two children. She subsequently relocated to Little Rock where she was employed in the administrative aspect of public education. After retiring she enjoyed painting, gardening, and was an excellent seamstress. She was an avid reader, loved dancing, and attending Murry?s Dinner Theater. She was a loving, kind, and gracious lady who inspired all who knew her. For the past several years she has resided at Presbyterian Village. Her family was the greatest joy of her life. Although she lived in Little Rock, she always considered Monticello "home". Graveside services will be Thursday, November 3, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Pinecrest Cemetery. Arrangements are by Ruebel Funeral Home. www.ruebelfuneralhome.com
