Biography: Dr. David B. Cheairs, age 85, of Little Rock, died February 17, 2007. He was born on October 3, 1921 in Tillar to the late David Troy and Minnie Mae Cheairs. He was raised in Little Rock and graduated from Little Rock High School. He received his degree in Zoology from Wheaton College where he excelled in academics and sports. He entered medical school in 1942 at the University of Arkansas School of Medicine graduating in 1945. After serving in the US Navy, he began a 40 year, private family practice in Little Rock with his brother-in-law, Dr. Carl Wenger. Dr. Cheairs taught Sunday School for many years at Asbury United Methodist Church in Little Rock. He was also an early member of Fellowship Bible Church. He co founded the Ozark Conference Center , an interdenominational Christian ministry, as a living memorial to his late son, David. He was also a discussion leader for Bible Study Fellowship. He was an avid duck hunter, fisherman, and Razorback fan. However those activities were exceeded only by his love and devotion to the Lord, his wife and family. Dr. Cheairs is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, H ermie Hoffman Cheairs; daughter, Paula Cheairs Mays and husband, Richard of Heber Springs, daughter, Sissy Cheairs Jones and husband, Scott of Heber Springs, daughter, Debbie Cheairs Freeman and husband Lee of Santa Monica,CA, and son, Dr. John Cheairs and wife India of Little Rock. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Mary Frances Isakov and husband Chris, Scott David Jones and wife Kacey, Lee Jones and wife Elizabeth, Elizabeth Ann Jones, Justin Ford and wife Norma, Jessica Ford, John T. Cheairs Jr., Stephen M. Cheairs; and five great grandchildren. A visitation will be held at Ruebel Funeral Home on Tuesday evening from 5 – 7 PM. Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM on Wednesday at Fellowship Bible Church in Little Rock. Memorials may be made to, The Ozark Conference Center, 4 Ozark Mt. Road, Slogohachia, AR 72156.
