Dear Kathy, I just moved back from California and was going to setup an appointment to see Dr. Smith when I searched for him. I am so very sorry to hear of his death. I so enjoyed talking to him about Boy Scouts, brewing beer and the pottery I made for you guys. God's blessings upon you and your family. What a day it will be, when we all get to heaven!

I'm so sorry, I meant Great Great Grandfather. I'm pretty sure that Dr. Charles Adna Smith was his Great Great Grandfather. Very sorry for the mistake in my first entry.

Thank you!

Dr. Smith seems like such a good man. I wish I could have gotten to know him. I grew up by the old Cotton Belt Railroad Hospital in Texarkana, AR., which his great grandfather (Dr. Charles Adna Smith Sr.) had built, and established there in 1904. He was a great hero to many people back in the early days of railroading. I guess heroes run in this family, because I can see here that Dr. Thomas Carter Smith was a hero too. I can also see that he is leaving behind a great legacy, and family just like his fathers before him. May God bless all of his family, and friends at this time, and forward with many blessings in Christ now, and always.
Love, Wanza Good. <3

How could you not love Tom and Kathy Smith and their entire staff. They were a family and not a business. That's how we felt each time we walked into Heights Dental Clinic. Tom's honest compassion, good humor, were exceeded only by his professional expertise. We were lucky to have known him. Our hearts are heavy. Deepest sympathies to all the family and staff.

Dr. Tom was a giant of a man and might have been the most effective Eagle Scout project counselor in the US, in the subtle way that only a student of the Scouting program could appreciate. In a setting where less is more, he did the minimum possible to enable the boy himself to organize, plan, and execute a project that would define a young man's legacy for many years. Many of these projects are remarkably ambitious and you can see a portfolio of Dr. Tom's T30 legacy at Conner Park where every bridge and improvement bears the mark of his gentle guidance and powerful impact. We raised two Eagle Scouts thanks to him and would like to thank the Smith family for sharing him with us

Dearest Cathy, Patrick, Daniel and Kaitlyn. We were deeply saddened to learn of the sudden passing of Dr. Tom Smith, a good friend, a dedicated scouter, and a mentor to many young men, including Benjamin our son. Tom mentored many young boys through scouting, and was so active in Ben?s Eagle Project. Tom was a tireless leader of young Scouts on their path to Eagle. I was privileged to partner with him in preparing boys for the journey toward Eagle. He would help them with project development, planning, and implementation. I would make sure that their advancement and paperwork was completed, with a little nagging thrown in for good measure. Tom?s example encouraged me to continue mentoring youth long after Benjamin proceeded on from scouting. Ben actually continued his involvement with Troop 30, long after his peers had left, due to Tom's example. I am truly grateful to Tom for his encouragement and guidance of my son through his Eagle Project at Conner Park. I can go there and see what he and Ben accomplished.

I feel as if we have lost a vital part and such giving energy of our Troop. I have lost my good friend. I am only consoled by the thought of the legacy Tom has left with the young men he mentored. All our Love and Prayers, Helena, Gerry, Christopher and Benjamin Schulze
