Biography: Marilyn Ruff Erwin, 62, of Little Rock, died February 1, 2007 from complications of lung and breast cancer. She was born July 24, 1944, in Little Rock, Arkansas; the daughter of the late Ruby Allen Ruff and Dr. John Legate Ruff of Magnolia, Arkansas. Marilyn left the world with the love of many people. She is survived by her four children: Jon Bruno and wife Veronica of Alexandria, Virginia; Calley Pavlovich and husband Michael of Roswell, Georgia; Maeghan Boyd and husband Todd of Atlanta, Georgia; and Terra Erwin of Little Rock, Arkansas. “Grammy” will also be greatly missed by her five grandchildren: Thomas Bruno, Maxwell and Lyda Pavlovich, and Ivey and Eden Boyd. Marilyn was raised in Magnolia, Arkansas, where she graduated high school in 1962. She attended Wellesley College in Massachusetts for two years, then Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas. Marilyn was a woman of many talents. She worked throughout the years as a mother, grandmother, carpenter, painter, and gardener, but most will remember her for her career in nursing. She was employed at UAMS in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit for 16 years. Marilyn’s favorite hobby was flower gardening. She especially loved daffodils. If the weather permitted, she could be found outdoors digging in the dirt and chatting with neighbors. She will be missed by all who knew her for her honest sense of humor and selfless dedication to helping others. A celebration of Marilyn’s life will be held at 2400 Gaines Street in Little Rock on February 4, 2007 from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society in Marilyn’s name.

Dear Members of Marilyn's Family, I have only just learned that Marilyn passed away on February 1st through the 1966 Class News Wellesley Alumnae magazine (fall issue). There was no obituary for her in the magazine and I plan to correct that in the next issue.

With other alums who knew and loved Marilyn, we also plan to write a longer piece about her for the class website. We will send it to you if we can obtain at least one e-mail address of a family member.

My deepest sympathy to you all, for Marilyn was a ray of sunshine. How you must miss her...

I am Weezie, Marilyn's roommate at Wellesley for both years she was there and I must tell you that I dearly loved your wife, mother, mother-in-law, sister, aunt, grandmother, etc. However geography separated us and we had drifted apart these last (at least) ten years. How I regret that now!

I would so much like to be in contact with one (some) of you and hope that you'll get in touch with me through my e-mail. My mailing address is in France (I married Jean-Claude in 1970 and have two sons.).

Hoping very much to hear from you. Warm regards to you all,

Leave your Condolence
