Biography: Dorothy Lee ?Dot? Cashion East, 98, died peacefully Saturday, November 21, 2015. She was born March 22, 1917, in Eudora, Arkansas, to Myrtle Stephenson and Elbert Thomas Cashion, and spent most of her childhood in Lake Village, Arkansas. After attending State Teachers? College in Conway and working at her uncle?s bank in Oklahoma City, she moved to Little Rock to take a job at Worthen Bank where she met Louis Collier East, her husband of 52 years. He died in 1996. In addition to her parents and husband, she is predeceased by her sisters Clotilda Cashion Hall and Marlys Cashion Turnage. Dot is survived by her brother Elbert Thomas Cashion, Jr., and her sons Thomas Collier East and his wife Mary Carolyn, and Robert Cashion East, Sr., and his wife Cynthia; four grandchildren, Collier East and his wife Ashley, Cash East and his wife Bright, Elizabeth East, and Jessica Mitchell and her husband Clint; and five great grandchildren, as well as a multitude of extended family. Dot?s vigorous community activities included PTA (president of Jefferson Elementary), the Women?s Emergency Committee, the Winthrop Rockefeller Gubernatorial Campaign, Woodlawn Therapeutic Children?s Center Board, the Oasis Renewal Center and CareLinks where she received the David Pryor Volunteer of the Year Award in 2004. Always on the move, Dot played tennis well into her eighties and water skied at age 78. Dot Dot, as she was lovingly called, lived her long and good life focused on faith, family and the golden rule. A stalwart member of Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church, she was a member of the Staff and Parish Relations Committee, the Upper Room Sunday School Class, a Sunday School teacher and countless other activities. If the doors were open, she was there. She adored and was adored by her church family. Dot Dot?s family was the joy of her life. Always young-at-heart and up for anything, she was the mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, aunt and sister extraordinaire. Her antics at the Cashion family reunions, many at Shangri-La Resort on Lake Ouachita, were legendary. With boundless energy and unlimited compassion and open-heartedness, Dot Dot lived to help others, especially those in need, and in some cases even bringing them home with her. Dot Dot had an inquisitive mind, a relentless spunkiness and unbending love of God and family and we are all the better for having known her. Heaven is a brighter place with her there. A celebration of her life will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, November 25, 2015, at Pulaski Height United Methodist Church followed by a reception at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Dot and Louis East Memorial Fund, PHUMC, 4823 Woodlawn Avenue, LR, AR 72205. Arrangements are under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home, www.ruebelfuneralhome.com

God bless the life that was Dot East. With an amazing love in her heart, she touched countless numbers of folks, and she unselfishly cherished every one of them and every minute she spent loving and nurturing them. I and my family were blessed to be among those fortunate folks. Much love to the East family.

Dot East was my confirmation mentor and also a instrumental part of me and my families, The Akama-Makia's) life after my mom passed away in 1999. As saddened as I am her passing, I am comforted in knowing that she lived a life that truly touched others around her.
Lots of love to her family and friends.

Dot was the sweetest person I ever met. When I first started at East-Harding, she would come in often and was so pleasant to be around.

I know she will be very much missed by her Family and Friends.

Dot was my father's cousin (Bowman Stevens). Dot always had a story to share of growing up in Lake Village and escapades with Clo and Marlys. Dot will be missed, but will remain with fondest memories in our hearts.

Dot and Louis were amongst the family that we would visit on vacations back to Arkansas when I was a child. We remember the monkies in the trees!

I am very sorry for your family's loss. Please take comfort in God's promise from Revelation 21:4, which tells of a time when "death will be no more".
