Biography: Jane Jackson "Jay" Burnett, age 97, died on October 11, 2015. Jay was born in Hollywood, California, on December 3, 1917. She is predeceased by her husband, John Lindsay Burnett, her parents, Gene Hailman Jackson and Elizabeth Henry Jackson, and two brothers, Gene Henry Jackson, of McAlester, OK, and Robert Kent Jackson, of New Bern, NC. She is survived by her daughter, Jane Pierson, of San Antonio, TX, and her son, John L. Burnett (Linda) of Little Rock, as well as grandchildren Ashli Andersen (Paul) of San Antonio, and Kate B. Richards (C.J.) of Little Rock, and one great grandson, Ryan Andersen. Jay was educated in the Little Rock public schools, graduating from Little Rock Senior High in 1934. She lived most of her life in Little Rock, New Orleans, and Baton Rouge. She worked for Liberty Mutual Ins. Co. for over 20 years, rising to a regional supervisor before retiring back to Little Rock in 1986. Jay was a long time member of Westover Hills Presbyterian Church, where she served as moderator of Women of the Church, and Circle chair. She was a member of Arkansas Chapter AL of P.E.O., and served as president of the Presbyterian Village Auxiliary Board. A product of the Depression, Jay was an eternal optimist, which affected those around her, and open-minded, which affected those around her as well, one way or another. From her early days at Dorothy Donaldson Dance Studio, she maintained a love of dance and theater. Honest, compassionate, with a great sense of humor, Jay loved a good horse race, crossword puzzles, a game of bridge, a mystery thriller, the New Orleans Saints, a bright moon, and Franklin Roosevelt. No one was more devoted to her family. She will be remembered as indefatigable in all things. Many thanks to everyone at Presbyterian Village. A memorial service will be 10:00am on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at Westover Hills Presbyterian Church. Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.

Jay and my mother, Margie Treece, were good friends in high school and remained close through the years. I remember how much fun they had together. Thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
