Biography: Janice Gail West, age 55, of Sherwood, died Wednesday, January 17, 2007. She was preceded in death by her father, J. Henry West. Survivors include her mother, Rachel Juanita (Norman) West; sisters Brenda, her dedicated caregiver, and Linda West (Dan) Joslin; a nephew, Greg (Jill) Joslin, and a niece Paris Nicole Joslin. Jan was born October 10, 1951 in Harrison, AR and grew up in Magnolia where she attended Southern State College (SAU). Jan had a variety of talents and creative skills. She was a tug boat pilot in Dodderidge after that she and Brenda were proprietors of a gourmet specialty shop in Texarkana. In 1988, she joined the staff of the Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) and took pride in helping hire the greatest care-giving staff anywhere. Dozens of employees still say it was the happiest work experience of their lives. VNA enjoyed Jan's skills as a decorator, floral designer, art aficionado; event planner and gourmet cook in the great employee productions during her career there. She liked creating something for others to enjoy. Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 24, 2007 in the Chapel of Ruebel Funeral Home. Cremation arrangements are by Ruebel Funeral Home of Little Rock. www.ruebelfuneralhome.com.

I'm so sorry I wasn't able to come to the memorial service for Janie Gail. She was such a special person, a sweet loving soul. She had a way of making a person feel very special when , in reality, she was the special one. I loved her and will miss her very much. Love, Carrie Ann

Brenda,
Susan, my sister Janice's age who attended her services, notified me of her death. So sorry to hear of your loss. The picture of her is beautiful. I know how you will miss her because Susan & I lost our beloved sister, Rebecca Jo, to ovarion cancer in Aug 99. She had battled it for over 2 years & actually a stroke from all the kemo took her life. She lived in Rancho Palos Verdes, Ca was married, had no children. I just retired. What are you doing now?

I am so sorry about Jan, and regret that I didn't find out in time to make it to the services. Brenda, saying that you were her dedicated caregiver is an understatement. I know how devoted you were to her. We will miss her very much. Please let me know if there's anything we can do.

Brenda and Family,

I am so very sorry for your loss. Your sister was one of those shining stars, that once you met her, you could never forget. May her passing lay easy upon you with the knowledge that she is not really gone, she is just in another form now, watching. Love to All of You...
