Biography: Rosetta Ashbrook Sykes Wactor was born in Batesville, Arkansas on July 6, 1920 to Robert and Bessie Ashbrook. She graduated from Cave City High School, attended Jonesboro College (ASU), and graduated with Bachelor?s and Master?s Degrees from University of Arkansas. Rosetta taught school 31 years--29 of which were at the Arkansas School for Blind. She was married to and widowed by Dr. Delzo Johnson, Raymond Sykes, and John Wactor. She is also pre-deceased by her parents; one daughter Elizabeth Renee Sykes; two sisters: Myrtle Crafton and Elsie Fletcher; two brothers: John and Burnice Ashbrook. Rosetta leaves fond memories to her son Christian Sykes and his wife Heidi of Waverly, Kansas; sister Gloria Renfroe of Clinton, Arkansas; and three step-children: Elaine Shaw (& Gary) of Overland Park, Kansas, Betsy Matthews (& Gary) of Independence, Missouri, Alan Wactor (& Chris) of Mesa, Arizona. And many nieces, cousins, and friends. She was a Southern Baptist. Rosetta gave her heart to the Lord at an early age and has been a very dedicated follower. She taught Sunday School for 31 years, children?s and youth?s bible drill for 17 years. And she shared her faith with everyone she met. Rosetta was passionate about her garden and loved sewing and traveling. But most of all, she dedicated much of her life to caring for family, friends, and anyone in need of assistance. She was selfless almost to a fault. Funeral services will be at 10:30am Friday, August 28, 2015 at the First Baptist Church in Clinton, Arkansas with Pastor Faron Rogers officiating. A visitation will begin at 9:30am just prior to the service. A graveside service will follow at 2:00pm at Forest Hills Memorial Park in Alexander, Arkansas. Services are under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home.

This was a very special lady; She taught me at ASB in the first grade spending countless hours teaching me to read and write. She became my teacher again in 7th rtu 12th grade teaching science but she went above and beyond taking her prep periods to help me with math without her help I may not of graduated high school. She was much more than a teacher to me giving advice when I needed it or just listening in her quiet unassuming way. This wonderful lady is a big part of my success at ASB 35 years later where I still work. I owe this fine lady more than I could ever repay. I will always have fond memories of her as a teacher, mentor and friend. Heven has a new jewel in its croon I pray that heven appreciates her as much as the people she came in contact with her on earth

I am so saddened to hear of Rosetta's recent death. I worked with her at the Arkansas School for the Blind, and remember her to be a true lady and with such a quirky sense of humor. She was always nice to me, as a new employee, and I will be forever grateful of that kindness. You are all in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
