My brother, David Tarver, worked with and loved Lecil back in the sixties. We were reliving old memories, decided to look up Lecil and saw that he had passed.

What a ride he had! Wonderfully talented, glorious, gracious man. He and David were two peas in a pod when it came to organs. I can't tell you how much love and respect he had for this man. God be with you all. He's in a really good place now. ❤

A major highlight of my childhood was singing in the Chapel Choir. Mr. Gibson was a great director and so much fun! He would pick us kids up in his Thunderbird to sing in the early service at Second Pres when it was downtown. Jean, Kelly and Steve I know you will miss him but he lived a long and fruitful life!

For many years Lecil lovingly took care of the organ at First Presbyterian Church in Pine Bluff (and often substituted on the bench), which is how I got to know him. Lecil was a very gifted musician, an exemplary organ technician, and a dear friend. I am greatly saddened by his death, and send my heartfelt sympathies to his family.

Uncle Lecil was so funny and truly brilliant, I enjoyed him a lot when I got to see him, and his funny emails. This world truly was not his home, and one day we will join him in heaven.

Jean, I know how much your dad meant to you. I love hearing stories about his music and all of y'all singing together. Just seeing your eyes light up when you speak of your family is a wonderful thing. I'm sure the organs in heaven are all tuned up by now! Love you so much. So happy your dad lived a long, happy life. How wonderful. God Bless.
All my love,
Lynn

Lecil was a great talent and a musical genius. My mother and I were privileged to sing in his choir at Second Presbyterian. We were always challenged by him to be the best. We did many major works under his leadership. I think of Lecil as a friend and a mentor and will never forget his wit and wisdom. May God grant peace to his family.

My friend for more than 30-years was truly unique in many special ways. He was a mentor, a teacher and we shared many happy experiences together both personally and in music. I am thankful for all of my time with Lecil and other Gibson family memories. Love to you all.
