Biography: On July 3, 2015, Kula Makris Kumpuris passed away peacefully in her sleep. She was born February 21, 1917 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas to Annie Zack and George Andrew Makris. Upon graduation from Pine Bluff High School she attended Texas Women?s University in Denton, Texas where she was proud to serve as vice president of her freshman class. She then attended the University of Arkansas where she was a member of Chi Omega Fraternity. She married Dr. Frank Kumpuris in 1946. After completing his medical training at the Mayo Clinic, Kula and Frank made Little Rock their home where they enjoyed 59 years together. She was a founding member of St. Mark?s Episcopal Church where she served on many committees. She was an active member of the Little Rock Garden Club, the Junior League of Little Rock, the Boys and Girls Club of Little Rock, and the Ada Thompson Home. Kula saw everyone?s strengths and delighted in them. She adored all people; and small children were always drawn to her. There was never a day that she didn?t have a smile on her face or a social event in which she did not delight. She was predeceased by her husband, Frank, her brother George and his wife Miriam Makris, her brother Peter Makris, her granddaughter Anne McNair Kumpuris and many dear friends. She is survived by her three children, Dr. Dean Kumpuris (Mary), Dr. Drew Kumpuris (Nancy) and Katherine Ann Trotter (Scott). She is also survived by her grandchildren, Kate Vogel (Jon), Andrew Kumpuris, Victoria Brown (Stewart), Frank Kumpuris, Richard Hahn, William Hahn, and Elise Hahn, and four great grandchildren: Annabelle and Banks Brown, Anya and Tally Vogel. The Family will receive guests on Sunday July 5th from 4 till 6 p.m. at her home. The memorial service will be held at St. Mark?s Episcopal Church, 1000 Mississippi Avenue, on July 6th at 11 a.m. Memorials may be sent to St. Mark?s Episcopal Church, or to a charity of one?s choice. The family would like to give a special thank you to her faithful caregiver?s Shirley Watkins, Nancy Holmes and Linda Johnson. Arrangements are under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home, www.ruebelfuneralhome.com

I am so sorry to hear of her passing. She was a very special lady, polite and friendly. Always very elegant and classy. She leaves behind a large family and a lot of friends, but our loss is Heaven's gain.
God bless.
