Biography: Franklin Church Hamlin, Jr., of Little Rock, passed away at home on January 20, 2007. Born on April 16, 1912 and raised in Belleville, IL, he was the son of Franklin Church and Stella Mae Ernest Hamlin. He attended Western Military Academy in Alton, IL and graduated with a bachelor's degree from Beloit College in Beloit, Wisconsin, where he was a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity. Frank spent his career of 42 years in marketing and management with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. His retirement years were filled with activities he loved especially tennis, dancing, pistol shooting, and coin collecting. He was a member for more than 50 years of the Men's Bible Class at Second Presbyterian Church, where he was also a Deacon and Elder. Frank was a longtime member of the AR Numismatic Society, the Little Rock Pistol Club, Pleasant Valley Country Club, the Little Rock Coin Club, and the National Rifle Assoc. He was a veteran of WWII and served in the 8th US Air Force in England. He was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Marietta Sharp Hamlin and two sisters Helen Fowler and Stella Kramer. Frank is survived by his son Frank S. Hamlin and his wife Betty Lou of Little Rock, his daughter Nancy Hamlin and her husband Paul McCay of Little Rock, two grandchildren, Chad Hamlin of Little Rock and Helen Hamlin of Washington, D. C., two sisters Virginia Peterson of Belleville, IL and Florence Rheberg of Grass Valley, CA., and good friend Irene Sniegocki of Little Rock. Frank is also survived by nephews Ed Peterson of Dallas, TX, Ronnie Fowler of Palm Harbor, FL, Jack Fowler of Belleville, IL, Ken Rheberg of Lake Elsinore, CA, Rick Rheberg of Grass Valley,CA, a niece, Judy Grimmer of Belleville, IL, and his faithful cat, Sake. The family wishes to express appreciation for the care provided by the St. Vincent Visiting Nurse Assoc., Arkansas Hospice, and the excellent caregivers of At-Home Care of Arkansas. A visitation will be held on Monday, January 22 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at Ruebel Funeral Home, 6313 W. Markham, followed by a funeral service at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 23, at Second Presbyterian Church with burial at Roselawn Memorial Park.
