Biography: Daisy Tribble Jacoway died January 15, 2007 at Parkway Village. The daughter of Judge A. L. Tribble and Emma Sanderson Tribble of DeQueen, Arkansas, Mrs. Jacoway attended Christian College in Columbia, Missouri, and the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority. In 1934 she moved to Little Rock to work for the Home Owners’ Loan Corporation, a New Deal agency. In 1938 she married Bronson Cooper Jacoway, a graduate of Harvard Law School and the son and grandson of former United States Congressmen. Richly endowed with a spirit of voluntarism and service, Mrs. Jacoway was active in community affairs, serving as President of several organizations, including the Junior League of Little Rock, the Fine Arts Club of Arkansas, the Aesthetic Club, the Ada Thompson Home Board, the Pi Beta Phi Alumnae Club, and the Shadowlawn Garden Club. She also served as Vice-President of the Women’s City Club and the Pulaski County Bar Auxiliary. She served on the Boards of the Arkansas Arts Center, the Visiting Nurses Association, the Working Women’s Home, the Health and Welfare Council, and the Community Chest. A member of the First United Methodist Church, she served on the Board of Stewards. In 1976 she was honored as Sustainer of the Year by the Junior League of Little Rock. She was widely loved and respected for her sweet nature, her quiet force and dignity, and her intelligence and grace. Preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her two sisters, and an infant daughter, Mrs. Jacoway is survived by three children, Bronson Cooper Jacoway, Jr., and his wife Linda, of San Diego, California, Elizabeth Jacoway Watson and husband Tim, of Newport, Arkansas, and Madison Doak Jacoway and wife Connie of Denver, Colorado, and six grandchildren. The family wishes to thank the staff at Arkansas Hospice for their reassuring attentiveness to our Mother, especially Cheryl Kendrick. We are also grateful to the staff at Don’s Pharmacy, particularly Rick Rogers, for their patience and professionalism. Certainly not last, we want to thank the extraordinary care-giving team who comforted our Mother through the last four years of her life, especially Tina Wagoner, Elsie Moore, Ronda Parker and Sondra Maxwell. On Thursday, January 18 at 2:00 P.M., after a private burial, a service of memory and thanksgiving will be held at First United Methodist Church at 8th and Center. Immediately following the service, the family will greet friends in Fellowship Hall. You may sign the on-line guest book at, www.ruebelfuneralhome.com. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Arkansas Arts Center, First United Methodist Church, or Arkansas Children’s Hospital (B. Cooper and Daisy T. Jacoway Endowment).

Daisy was an incredible woman who contributed her time and energy to make the Junior League and our community better. We will miss our past president (1947-48) and 1976 Sustainer of the Year tremendously.

We have received a donation to our Building Endowment Fund in Daisy's honor and would like to send a notification to Betsy Watson if you have an address for her.

I was so sorry to hear from Mother that your Mother had passed away. I have many wonderful memories of the Fourth of July with the Jacoway, Emmel and Russell families. I will always remember the special Fourth of July bride's maid luncheon your Mother and Betty Ruth gave me in the middle of March. What fun that was! My best to all of you.

Dear Family,

About 10-15 years ago I had the privilege of typing your Mother's memoirs from her earliest recollections until that present time.

I felt as if I had a glimpse of the era she grew up in. She talked about her childhood, a trip to Fayetteville where they had to find water in a creek for the overheated car, her father's death, her mother running for county treasurer, her moving to Little Rock, meeting your father and honeymooning on a tramp steamer, as was the custom of that time.

Additionally I got to visit with her several times during that process and she told me even more things about her life and the times -- all of which was extremely entertaining as well as informative.

She was a true Southern lady that I was extremely honored to know, even for a brief time. I am certain you will miss her tremendously. Please accept my sincere condolences in your loss.

Regards,
Marlane McLain

Betsy, you have our sympathy and our empathy. Virginia has had the experience of losing both parents. Not only do you experience the loss of your mom, but you then focus on the fact that you are now the most senior generation. Irving still has the blessing of Marie, but he knows well the experience of loss when his dad died. Know that you have already made your mom proud. Let us know if we can be of help. Our condolences to your siblings and the grandchildren.

Dear Betsy, I'm sorry for your loss. Your mother was such a lovely and gentle person. I enjoyed the time we worked together for the Arkansas Legislature. At the end of the session she gave me a copy of your grandmothers book "First Ladies of Arkansas"
I am very proud to have this book. My prayers are with you and your family.

It saddened me to read that Little Rock has lost another of her great ladies, for that was always the way I thought of Miss Daisy. Of course, our loss cannot compare to that of her family, so to Betsy and her brothers, I send my deepest sympathy. You will have, however, the joy of wonderful memories of your mother to sustain you.

Dear Bronson, Betsy and Doak, I was saddened to read in the on-line edition (we're in North Carolina at the moment) of your mother's passing. What a wonderful life she had. She was always so kind to me and I had bottomless respect and affection for her. Please know you are all in Elizabeth's and my thoughts and prayers. Sincerely,

Betsy, Your Mother was such an elegant and delightful lady. Some of my happiest "growing up" memories are of being at your house. Betsy, Doak, Bronson. Please know that you are in my prayers. You all were so blessed to have had her with you for so long. She experienced longevity, as well as a good quality of life. Tell Doak I will always remember the night he came to visit Ms.D. It was truly a "Kodak" moment.

Dear Betsy, Doak and Bronson, It has been an honor to know your mother and be of service to your family over the years. In her elegant way, your mother showed us how to age gracefully. May God welcome her in heaven and comfort those who mourn for her on earth.

Betsy and family, I had planned to make an appearance, but due to weather conditions will say "I'm thinking of you at this time" and so another chapter of one's life comes to an end. You all can certainly be pleased that you did many, many lovely things for your mom in the last years. The obid was beautiful. I'm just thankful I was able to know a fellow Sevier Countian!!
