Susan and family,
I am so very sorry for your loss. I keep thinking about how blessed Alan was to have his loving wife and sons to care for him these past years and particularly the past week of his life. Your care and loving attention showed how special Alan was. He must have been the kind of husband and father that gave that same kind of care and loving attention to his family. Your kind of family is special.
Please know my thoughts, prayers and love are with you.
Sincerely,
Tara Meziere

Dear Susan, Christopher and Andrew:

Alan was a wonderful friend and I am lucky to have known him. We had such enjoyable times in the past playing tennis, metal detecting for Civil War relics, attending the meetings of the Civil War Round Table or just a nice visit on the deck with a cold beer after tennis. I know that you will always cherish your memories of him as a husband and father. You are so fortunate to have been with him while he was here. I will never forget the many good times with Alan, and I extend my deepest sympathy, but I know that you are better because of him, and you always will be. He is just a few thoughts away. I wanted you to know that I am thinking of you at this sad time.

I wish you oceans of love now and forever.

Dearest Elsworth family,
Please reach out and let me know if you need anything. Whether that be food, or someone to talk to. I hate that you are going through this acute pain, and I would do anything to take it away from you. The joyful face of Mr. Elsworth greeting me whenever I visited your home as a teenager is a memory I cherish: as are all of my adventures with the Elsworths. I am blessed to have known him and hope you all know how much his (and your) loving kindness has meant to me. He is forever in my thoughts and prayers. As are each of you.
Love

My dear friend Susan, my thoughts and prayers are with you and Christopher and Andrew during this sad time. No words are adequate in times like these...I will just say that my heart felt sympathies goes out to you all! We will all have our memories of the good times...Alan being the "mascot" and only man that we allowed in our women only gym and the only man that we let come to our girls nights out! It was a privilege to have known Alan and I will miss his wit and his charm! I know in the days to come that you, my dear friend Susan and your boys will be a great source of comfort for each other. May God's peace be with you all and may you find some comfort in knowing that he is no longer in pain.
Love to you all, Paula
When you speak of him speak not with tears for thoughts of him should not be sad. Let the memories of the times you shared give you comfort for his life was rich because of you.
