Biography: Stacy Lynn Duckett, 50, of North Little Rock, passed away at home, March 20, 2015, surrounded by her family and friends. She was born on June 20, 1964, in Searcy, Arkansas, to James M. and Cherry Lynn Lubker Duckett. Stacy graduated from Parkview High School in 1982. While she was in high school, she began working for TCBY at its very first store ?pumping yogurt,? and was the first employee who was not a member of the Frank Hickingbotham family. She attended the second Arkansas Governor?s School, where lifelong friends were made. After she received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Hendrix College in 1986, Stacy joined TCBY at its corporate headquarters and eventually became vice president and assistant general counsel for TCBY Enterprises, Inc. Following in her father?s footsteps, she completed her Juris Doctorate in law at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in 1994, while working full time. In 1999, Stacy was recognized as one of Arkansas Business?s ?40 Under 40.? When TCBY was purchased by Mrs. Fields in 2000, Stacy made the decision to stay in Little Rock and joined Southwest Power Pool as an attorney in the transmission and regulatory policy group. She also served as director of corporate affairs and general counsel prior to being named vice president, chief compliance officer and corporate secretary. Additionally, she completed the advanced management program at Northwestern University in 2010. A tireless community volunteer, Stacy supported numerous non-profit organizations financially and with her time. She chaired and served on the boards of CareLink, Heart of Arkansas United Way, Youth Home, Hendrix College Alumni Association Board of Governors, and the Arkansas Track and Field Hall of Fame. She was an avid Razorback supporter, as well as a member of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock Trojan Basketball Foundation and the Arkansas chapter for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Stacy was also a longtime and active member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where she served on and chaired several committees, including the administrative board and board of trustees. She also sang in the choir and taught Sunday school. Along with her generous spirit, Stacy had a quick and infectious smile, as well as a bit of sass and directness. She dearly loved her family, treasured her many friends, and was devoted to her godchildren. She deeply touched countless lives and would do anything for the people she loved and often for those she didn?t even know. Stacy was an avid traveler and also enjoyed spoiling her pets, collecting artwork, entertaining friends, and calling the Hogs. Stacy was preceded in death by her grandparents, Herman L. and Cherry I. Lubker, Bald Knob; James S. Duckett, Pine Bluff; and James K. and Bureata Duckett Harper, Pine Bluff. She is survived by her parents, Jim and Cherry Duckett, Little Rock; her brother, Scott Lubker Duckett, Little Rock; her aunt and uncle, Ann (Mike) Fitzhugh, Fort Smith; and her cousins, Jason (Jenni) Fizthugh, Ashley (Brian) Ahlert, and Alex (Brittni) Fitzhugh and several great nieces and great nephews and extended family. Also missing her greatly are her pets Honey and Slick. Stacy received excellent care from her care team at UAMS, led by Dr. Shirley Ong and APN Amanda Eubanks, Dr. John D. Day, and Dr. Mathew Hardee. Her home care team of Deborah Truitt, Cammeal Swanigan, Fay Williams-Kidd, and Raven Justice gave her excellent care and lots of love. Stacy?s team also included Hospice Home Care nurses Sara Stewart and Cedric Williams and aide Cindy Robinson. A special thank you to Jo Smith who was there whenever and wherever she was needed. The family appreciates each of them for the care, compassion and support they provided. Visitation will be held at Ruebel Funeral Home on Thursday, March 26, 2015 from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. A memorial service will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1101 North Mississippi, Little Rock, on Friday, March 27, 2015 at 2 p.m. officiated by Rev. Betsy Singleton Snyder. A reception will follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, gifts in Stacy?s memory may be made to UAMS Cancer Center, 4301 W. Markham St. #623F, Little Rock, AR 72205; CareLink, P.O. Box 5988, North Little Rock, AR 72119; The Music Ministry of Trinity United Methodist Church , 1101 N. My deep condolences to Jim, Cherry, Scott, and Stacy's extended family - not to mention her friends and colleagues.

I first met Stacy at the Arkansas Governor's School in 1981, and we attended Hendrix College together. My lasting memory of Stacy - aside from those mid-80's fashions seared into the brains of those of us who lived theough them - will be of a kind, gentle woman.

In the weeks before our 25th reunion, Stacy found out that my mother had just passed away and my father was gravely ill. Her kindness at that awful time will be my lasting memory of Stacy, and my life has been blessed by her presence.

Stacy was a compassionate, kind and caring person. She was one of the first friends I met as the new kid at Henderson, having moved to LR from Tulsa. She was the last person in LR to tell me goodbye when I was leaving AR after college. Long years have passed since then, but her willingness to reach out to me when I needed someone will always linger in my memory.

It's so hard to come up with comments to offer condolence for the loss of Stacy. So many have written such beautiful stories and reminders of a wonderful woman. She was strong, direct, and a fantastic mentor. Our family is so blessed to have known her.

Stacy hired me at SPP, and Philip had met her through TCBY. She was supportive through our first miscarriage and then the pregnancy and birth of our oldest child. Her kindness and generosity was apparent from day one.

Cancer has been present in our family for a long time. And, in the past few years, it has taken it's toll. Stacy was so strong in her battle, and we will forever remember the example that she set.

We praise God for her life, and know he must have needed such a fabulous leader.

Jim, Cherry and Scott -- You will remain in our prayers to feel God's grace and Stacy will always live in our hearts.

Stacy was a wonderful lady. I had the privilege of working with her as n SPP Member Company representative for many years. She was always professional, but was always up to a good laugh.

It was not until I read her obit that I learned that Cherry Duckett was her mother. I interned at the Arkansas Energy Conservation Policy Office as a college student in 1978. Ms. Cherry was the Deputy Director when I was there. It is, indeed, a small world.

My condolences to the entire family.

Jim and Cherry Lynn, I was out of State last week and did not realize that Stacy had passed. I did not know that she was ill. I met her at Plaza West Building about a couple of years ago. I could immediately tell she was someone that would have been an asset to any company that she was with. Had I been in town, I would have been at the visitation. You all are in my prayers as is Stacy. Love, Don Renshaw

Over the years, attending many SPP meetings/ workshops, I have grown to feel like it's going to see family whenever we get together whether it's those with SPP or other utilities. So it's with great sadness that I heard about Stacy. She was a lovely person who I enjoyed talking to and found quite intelligent- with an infectious laugh to boot.

Stacy was truly one of a kind! The thing I appreciated most about Stacy was that I could always count on her to be very straight forward with me. Her candor was her best quality. She was very outgoing and loved by everyone that knew her. I consider myself blessed to have worked with her and to have known her.

I will miss seeing her at the office and at Razorback games. My deepest condolences and prayers go out to the Ducket family.

Dear Jim and Cherry, I cannot think of any words of comfort but can only repeat what so many others have previously written. Stacy was a light to the community. She supported many endeavors including generous donations to Pfeifer Camp that touched the lives of numerous at-risk children - providing them with outdoor summer camp adventures, friendships with cabin mates, and the opportunity to reinforce life and leadership skills as they returned to Pfeifer camp year after year. Even though Stacy is no longer here, the blessing of her devotion and empowerment of these children continues every day as they grow, reach for their dreams, and become leaders in their own communities. Stacy's love is still rippling through lives in countless ways that cannot be measured...

I?d known Stacy since shortly after she came to SPP, and later I got to know her better after coming to work for SPP myself.

I?ll always remember her wit. Since food was near and dear to both of our hearts, we often would visit about our experiences at restaurants in town. As a coworker, I always found Stacy to be trustworthy, and she demonstrated integrity in everything she did. As a friend, she was always engaging, funny, and a great listener.

I?m very sad, and I?ll miss Stacy. My prayers and warm wishes go out to her family and loved ones.

Cherry Lynn and Jim,
While I did not know Stacy, as I read these condolences I felt as if I did know her because it sounded as if her mother was being described, a person that have known and admired since we were children. It is quite apparent that Stacy was similarly admired by all that knew her, and she will always be missed. My thoughts, as well as those of my mother and Amanda, are with you at this time.

I have wonderful memories of Stacy. The smile on her face is "so Stacy". She always had a smile and a good word for everyone she came in contact with. She and I worked together at TCBY where she was a great pleasure to work with. We met again recently serving together on the board of the Heart of Arkansas United Way. I always appreciated her wisdom and willingness to get things done. She had a great mind and could always be counted on to come up with solutions. I will miss her wisdom and kind words.
I know that you will miss her more than any of us can begin to understand, but know that she is with God and that her time here with us was well spent. She was a wonderful blessing to all of us.

To: The Duckett Family, Friends, Classmates, and Co-Workers,

I am sorry for your loss, and you all are in our prayers, thoughts, and wishes.

Stacy is, was, and will forever be someone we will know and love. My first memory of Stacy was seeing her smiling face in the 7th grade as I walked into the band room at Henderson Middle School, and though it would be our first meeting, it would not be our last. Throughout the years, I have always reflected on the person she was, and the person she became, and it never surprised me that she grew up to be such a wonderful and awesome person. The impression she left on me and so many others cannot be underestimated, hers was a life truly well lived. Many of us have stories about her, and memories that make us all feel special just having known her. She loved her family, and had a persistence that anyone could love and respect. I will truly miss my friend, and I will never forget her or the spirit she possessed and continues to possess.

I pray that "God/Indwelling Intelligence," helps all of her family and friends find that "Peace of Mind" that she so longed for all of us to have.
To my friend, and classmate, may we see one another again in the spirit where only God reunite us.

Loving you always,

Harold Springer

My heart is very saddened to hear of Stacy's passing. Sorry I didn't know she was sick so I could have visited her. I knew her from TCBY. I was secretary to Herren Hickingbotham for 12 yrs. Stacy would come to see Herren & I'd get to visit with her. I always thought she was so friendly, smart, caring and a loveable and fashionable lady. I was so impressed with her many functions she was involved with. She will be greatly missed. She always talked about her Mom & Dad, & Scott, she was very close to you. My prayer is for her Mom, Dad & Scott, that you will find comfort & peace, knowing she is talking to JESUS & not suffering anymore. May the Lord bless you all.

In late summer in 1981, while we were getting ready to open the 1st TCBY store, I was visiting with Jim Duckett at his office. He asked me if we were hiring high school students to work in the store. I acknowledged that we were, and he said that he wanted to recommend his daughter. He told me that he would guarantee me that she would be a good worker. That may have been one of the most understated recommendations of all time. From her 1st day at work, she was an outstanding leader.
After graduating from high school with highest honors, Stacy went off to college at Hendrix. Every holiday and in the summer, she came back to work at TCBY. She soon started working in the office doing with excellence everything she was asked to do. When she graduated from college, she came back for full time employment. She worked in marketing, accounting, company stores, training, and investor relations.
Stacy was always learning and wanting to advance her career opportunities. She decided she wanted a law degree, and she went to law school and got it. She joined our legal dept and quickly became a Sr. Associate.
Stacy was deeply loved and respected by all who knew her. She loved TCBY and It loved her. She was my advisor and confidant. Her wisdom and understanding were way past her years. She was like family. She was my Friend. My wife and I offer our deepest thoughts at this time for her family. Thank you for sharing your beautiful Stacy for all those years.

STACY WAS COURAGEOUS!! Through all the years I knew her, Stacy chose courage over comfort. She was ever afraid to speak her mind, to stand her ground, to live her truth out loud. As her friend, and as a person who?s often stood on the edge of truth but was afraid to jump in, I found Stacy?s courage and honesty remarkable. Thank you sweet friend for being that shining light and pushing me to be a better man.

We had the wonderful experience of celebrating Christmas at Stacy's home for an SPP office party. Her hospitality and warmth was very evident. A memory we will always cherish, and have often talked about since. I (Ronda) will long treasure the time I spent meeting with her while creating the SPP History displays and her championing me in my endeavors. She was such an encouragement, and believed in me even though she knew little of my art background. She will be greatly missed by many.

Extremely intelligent, a mentor, friend, holistic in thought, humble, and caring. Her life, her actions, and her demeanor were fully used by our Father to accomplish His purpose. Plenty to be learned from her. A power packed life in too few years. Thanks be to God for such an example. God's strength and peace that passes all human understanding be with Jim, Cherry, Scott, family and friends.

What a shock to see this. My condolences to the whole family on the loss of Stacy. I met her when my family moved to LR when I was 10, and she was quite 'the force' back then. Great energy and great spirit. You always wanted her on your team -- no matter what. She will be missed. Peace to the entire Duckett family.

I enjoyed very much growing up with Stacey and hearing "Steely!" anytime she thought I was doing something stupid. (Which was quite often.)

I know you all are hurting a lot and just wanted you to know that I am meditating on light, love and peace for Stacey, Jim Cherry and Scott. Love you all. .

Stacy served as the Chair of the Student Host Committee in the Hendrix admission office during my first stint in that office and was a force to be reckoned with. She kept her team organized and on task. A lot of students have served in that capacity but none with more aplomb and authority. Lest you get the wrong impression she wasn't a drill sergeant; student hosts followed her lead out of respect. Many years later when I joined the Hendrix development office I found a willing supporter in my old friend, Stacy Duckett. Many of you who were her classmates knew her better than I did I'm sure, but I can't see how in the world you could possibly hold her in any higher regard.

I am so very saddened to hear of Stacy's passing. I grew up in Treasure Hills and was a year behind Stacy in school. Of course we attended school together through high school at Parkview, and I attended Hendrix College as well.

I love the remark about her "sass and directness" as that is certainly how I remember her. She always had a smile and always took the time for people.

My prayers and thoughts are with everyone.

I am deeply saddened that we have lost Stacy. I believe the writer(s) of her obituary did an outstanding job capturing the heart and soul of this woman. My fondest memories of her were having her give me the tour of Southwest Power Pool's new offices and watching her glow as she showed off the artwork; seeing her at Razorback football games in Fayetteville in The Red Zone and thanking her and her parents for arranging seats for Larry and me; and visiting with her and her mom when we were all shopping at Dorothy Bentley's. I so admired her as a professional but more than that, I loved witnessing the close and loving relationship she had with her parents. I knew more about her relationship with her mother Cherry. It was as sweet and dear a relationship as any mother and daughter would dream of having -- at least, that's the way I saw it. It made me smile when I saw them together and wish that every mother and daughter had such love and closeness. Stacy had a lot of spunk, just like her mom. Stacy will be missed by many, many people. She was one of those who it can be said, "To have known her was to love and admire her." Our loss is Heaven's gain. I shall say special prayers for Cherry, Jim and Scott as they face the days ahead.

Jim, Cherry and Scott,

I am utterly heartbroken to hear about Stacy. She was one of the smartest, most kind and loving persons I have ever known and will, I know, be missed by all of us.

Stacy's spirit for every challenge she faced in life is and always will be one to look back and reflect upon her beautiful nature.

Many blessings and may your beautiful angel RIP.

With much love,
