Biography: Nancy Hall Bailey was born on September 9, 1930 in Little Rock and died at her Little Rock home on January 9, 2007. She was preceded in death by her father, C.G. "Crip" Hall, and her mother, Nancy J. Hall. Her husband of 54 years, R. Robert Bailey, survives her. She is also survived by her two wonderful children: Dr. Anne Hall Bailey and Ric Bailey, and his wife Lori, all of Little Rock; a sister-in-law, Elizabeth B. Benton of Conway; and 3 nephews and 5 nieces. She graduated from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville in 1952 with a Bachelor of Arts. While there she was a member of Pi Beta Phi and was elected president of the Associated Women Students. Following in her father's footsteps, her proudest educational achievement was the completion of a law degree and the attainment of her law license at the age of 60. She also proudly continued the "Crip Hall Award" at Fayetteville which was originated by her father in 1950. A true philanthropist, she gave freely of herself, devoting much time and energy to enhancing the lives of others. A lifelong supporter of the Girl Scouts of America, she attended Camp Ouchiata as a camper and a counselor, and she served as a troop leader during the 1960s and 1970s. She was a member of the American Bar Association, the Arkansas and Pulaski County Bar Associations, and the Arkansas Bar Foundation. She very much enjoyed her membership in the Downtown Little Rock Kiwanis Club, her work with the Political Animals Club of Little Rock, and her commitment to the Loving Hands Prayer Shawl Ministry which she organized at Second Presbyterian Church. She had a multifaceted career: speech therapist; television announcer and weather girl; speech and drama teacher and debate coach at Hall High School; and Bank Marketing Officer and Assistant Vice-President in the Trust Department of Union National Bank. A memorial service will be held at the Second Presbyterian Church, 600 Pleasant Valley Drive, Little Rock 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 12, 2007 with Rev. Dr. Karen K. Akin and Rev. Steve Hancock officiating. Private graveside services will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be given to the Kiwanis Camp Pfeifer, in care of the Downtown Little Rock Kiwanis Club; the UALR School of Law; or the Loving Hands Prayer Shawl Ministry at Second Presbyterian Church. Funeral arrangements are by Ruebel Funeral Home of Little Rock, www.ruebelfuneralhome.com.

An LRHS GRAD '48: Sincere condolences. Nancy and I dated very casually in HS. I remember a group of us were going to Mt. Petit Jean one weekend very early in the AM. We stopped by Nancy's home and the place was dark. We tossed a few pebbles at Nancy's bedroom windows, the window opened and a sleepy Nancy said: "Go without me!" We laughed and left. She showed good judgment then and in her professional life.

PS. As a career Naval officer, I always voted absentee ballot in AR, and always voted for her Dad and then her mother.

I remember Nancy as the most gracious and friendly officer of Union Bank and, of course, as the wonderful Kiwanian and greeter at Political Animals. She will be missed for a long time. My sincere sympathies are with Bob and the family.

I pushed the wrong button and had to enter twice but Nancy Ann is worth far more than twice. I admired her greatly for all her accomplishes but cherished her openness as a friend eventhough I did not see her much after graduation from BHS. Please know you - her much loved husband and family - will be in my thoughts and prayers.

To The Bailey Family,

Mrs. Bailey was one of my high school teachers in the 70's, and since that time our paths have crossed on several memorable occasions. She was not just a teacher, but one who truly inspired a lil' ol' poor black girl from east Little Rock for life.

I offer my prayers, condolences and gratitude.

I was a student of Ms. Bailey at Hall High in the early 70's in her speech classes and participated in debate. Though of small stature, she commanded respect from her students but most importantly gave respect right back. Even though we gave her some fits sometimes, she always responded with class, professionalism, and love. My condolences to her family.

I would like to express my sincere condolences to the family during this time. While I didn't know Mrs. Bailey personally; having worked with her son Ric for some time, he often spoke fondly of her. It was clear that there was much love between them. I know she will be missed. My family will be praying for you.
Sincerely,
Mr. Searcy Simpson

Dear Bailey Family,

My mother, Martha Crosby, taught with Miss Nancy at Hall High School, and they remained friends after retirement, although they didn't see each other very much in recent years.

On behalf of mom, I would like to express our condolences in your family's loss of such a wonderful lady.

Sincerely,
Susan Crosby
