Biography: Nancy Hall Bailey was born on September 9, 1930 in Little Rock and died at her Little Rock home on January 9, 2007. She was preceded in death by her father, C.G. "Crip" Hall, and her mother, Nancy J. Hall. Her husband of 54 years, R. Robert Bailey, survives her. She is also survived by her two wonderful children: Dr. Anne Hall Bailey and Ric Bailey, and his wife Lori, all of Little Rock; a sister-in-law, Elizabeth B. Benton of Conway; and 3 nephews and 5 nieces. She graduated from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville in 1952 with a Bachelor of Arts. While there she was a member of Pi Beta Phi and was elected president of the Associated Women Students. Following in her father's footsteps, her proudest educational achievement was the completion of a law degree and the attainment of her law license at the age of 60. She also proudly continued the "Crip Hall Award" at Fayetteville which was originated by her father in 1950. A true philanthropist, she gave freely of herself, devoting much time and energy to enhancing the lives of others. A lifelong supporter of the Girl Scouts of America, she attended Camp Ouchiata as a camper and a counselor, and she served as a troop leader during the 1960s and 1970s. She was a member of the American Bar Association, the Arkansas and Pulaski County Bar Associations, and the Arkansas Bar Foundation. She very much enjoyed her membership in the Downtown Little Rock Kiwanis Club, her work with the Political Animals Club of Little Rock, and her commitment to the Loving Hands Prayer Shawl Ministry which she organized at Second Presbyterian Church. She had a multifaceted career: speech therapist; television announcer and weather girl; speech and drama teacher and debate coach at Hall High School; and Bank Marketing Officer and Assistant Vice-President in the Trust Department of Union National Bank. A memorial service will be held at the Second Presbyterian Church, 600 Pleasant Valley Drive, Little Rock 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 12, 2007 with Rev. Dr. Karen K. Akin and Rev. Steve Hancock officiating. Private graveside services will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be given to the Kiwanis Camp Pfeifer, in care of the Downtown Little Rock Kiwanis Club; the UALR School of Law; or the Loving Hands Prayer Shawl Ministry at Second Presbyterian Church. Funeral arrangements are by Ruebel Funeral Home of Little Rock, www.ruebelfuneralhome.com.
PS. As a career Naval officer, I always voted absentee ballot in AR, and always voted for her Dad and then her mother.
