Biography: William Douglas Swann, 55, passed away on March 19, 2015. He was born on August 5, 1959, in Little Rock, Arkansas to Dudley Swann, Sr. and Joe Ann McBroom Swann. He is survived by: his wife of more than 32 years, Lisa Martin Swann, whom he loved ?to the moon?; his sons Jonathan Douglas Swann and wife Candace of Little Rock, William Justin Swann and wife Megan of Conway, Jeffrey Martin Swann and wife Charley of Little Rock; four grandchildren Malyn and Addison Swann of Little Rock and Brody and Linley Swann of Conway, who affectionately called him ?Pop-O?; his brother Dudley Swann, Jr. and wife Kathy of Little Rock; his sister Stephanie Swann of Little Rock; and aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother and father and his dear friends Gary and Brian Gould and Sam Rush. In 1977, Doug graduated from Catholic High School for Boys, and he was forever guided its teachings of what a real man is: a man of integrity and faith who is a good father, husband, and steward of the gifts God has given him. He went on to attend the University of Arkansas and returned to work for his family?s businesses, Little Rock Crate & Basket Co, Inc. in Little Rock and Nashville Crate Company in Nashville, Arkansas. Doug continued to work for the family-owned business for the remainder of his life, eventually as co-owner and operator with his brother. Doug was a very caring person and never met anyone that he would not try to help. He changed lives every day with his generosity and caring nature and was the definition of a man as exemplified by his duty to his faith, family, and those in need. Doug loved the Lord with all his heart and soul. He was raised at Pulaski Heights Baptist Church and was later initiated into the Catholic Church as an adult. He was an avid, life-long outdoorsman, and he especially enjoyed bass fishing. Doug spent countless days on the water with his wife, boys and friends, and he devoted an equal amount of time to non-profits supporting Arkansas River projects and other fishing programs within the Natural State. A visitation service will be held Monday, March 23, 2015, from 5:30 to 7:00 P.M. at Our Lady of the Holy Souls Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, March 24, 2015, at 1:30 P.M. at Our Lady of the Holy Souls Catholic Church with Fr. Erik Pohlmeier as celebrant. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home, www.ruebelfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Doug?s honor to Catholic High School for Boys in Little Rock, http://www.lrchs.org/, or the Second Annual Dash for Down Syndrome ? Griffin?s Run (Doug?s lil buddy), http://reecesrainbow.org/?s=griffins+run.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Lisa and the Swann family. Doug was such a genuine and warm person. I?ve never known someone who was so good at making you feel welcome and part of the ?family?. I was blessed to have such a great college roommate and cherished getting to know Lisa and the boys as we each married and started our families. Unfortunately, the distance between us kept us apart for too many years. Time is so precious and now that opportunity is lost. You will be missed my friend.

I first met Doug ten years ago at a Fish N Stuff Tuesday night tournament on the river. I was new to tournament fishing at the time and was still green when it came to distinguishing between spotted bass and black bass, especially in the dark.
That night I had caught a lot of fish but I just wasn't sure on a few. I called Gary Gould when I got to the weigh-in and as humiliated as I possibly could be said 'Gary - I have a problem. I have a limit but I'm not sure if they're the right size or kind.' He said hang tight, I'm sending someone down there to help you out. A few minutes later and I met Doug Swann. The situation was pretty embarrassing but he didn't give me a hard time. We re-measured some fish and threw a few back. He saved me from what could have been an embarrassing moment at the scales!
I didn't know Doug very well but he was always a name I looked for in tournament standings. I had a good conversation with him earlier this year on a frigid morning at lake ouachita.
I absolutely could not believe it when I saw that he was gone.
I called Judy immediately and asked her if this was right.
My deepest condolences to the Swann family.
Doug had a great personality and was a wonderful person.

Lisa and the Boys: Doug was a dear friend and classmate from Catholic High who will be greatly missed by all of us. I'm having a hard time accepting that he's is gone from this world but I do accept that he is in a better place now rejoicing with his family members who have already passed on to Heaven. I remember fondly attending Catholic High football games watching you play. He was so proud of all of you for your accomplishments whether it was becoming an attorney or other work. May the Holy Spirit grant you strength at this time of loss. May the Peace of Christ be with you! Reg Rogers Catholic High Class of 1977

I am shocked and very sorry to hear of Doug's passing. We met through business; my company did a roof replacement and some additional work at his farm. After meeting, we found out we were both CHS grads and the "brotherhood" that we shared immediately constituted a friendship. We got into several conversations about our CHS days that only other members of the CHS Brotherhood can understand. Doug was one super nice guy! Always happy and a great person to have as a friends and to do business with. I am thankful that I had the honor of getting to know Doug and will truly miss but always remember him. My prayers are with his family, God bless.

I am so saddened to hear of your loss. I've known the Swann families for a lot of years....Doug would have probably been around fifteen when I first met him; then it seems like overnight that he's bragging about a wife and then kids and then grandkids....and he could brag with the best of them! He certainly enjoyed his family. My prayers and thoughts are with you.

I have not seen Doug in many years, yet was very saddened to hear of his sudden passing far too soon. I'll remember Doug as a genuinely warm, kind-hearted spirit with an infectious smile. Doug's life was a sermon we saw in the flesh. He gives us all the more reason to stop and smell the roses. My heart goes out to his wife, Lisa, and his fortunate sons who had the honor of calling him Dad. May all of the Swann family be comforted in knowing that death is a part of this life but not of the next. Peace be with you all.

In our short time of getting to know Doug, it was evident of his fatherly leadership. It was an honor to know him and although this world has lost a leader and wonderful person, it will be a blessing to see him again in God's Kingdom. It is clear how our beautiful niece Charley would be drawn to such an awesome family lead by good men.
In love, Darryl and Kay

Lisa, Jon, Justin, Jeff, and your extended family,
I am so sad and heartbroken for you and for all those who knew and loved Doug. Because to know him WAS to love him! He was just an incredible man...so genuinely loving and caring. Through the years he would smile so big and wrap me in that big ole bear hug every time we saw each other, and it always felt like family with him. I will miss that. He was so proud of all of you, and I know he would want you to live and love to the fullest as he did so well. I'll be praying for all of you...that God to give you peace, comfort and even joy in each other until you are all together again.
