Biography: Esther Z. Womeldorff entered the presence of her Lord, Jesus Christ, January 6, 2007. She was born in Grand Prairie, Missouri on March 2, 1911 to her parents, Bomer E. Zook and Bessie Z. Sinclair. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years James (Jim) E. Womeldorff. Other family members preceding her in death were a brother Jack Zook of Monette, Arkansas, a sister Maglene Kimbro of McGehee, a brother Bonnie Zook, also of McGehee. Being former residents of the area, Esther and Jim returned to Little Rock after Jim’s tour of duty in World War II. She was not only a devoted mother and homemaker, but was also very active in many civic organizations. She and her family were members of First Christian Church and were involved in the Church’s relocation to its present address in west Little Rock. She and Jim were charter members of Riverdale Country Club which later became Pleasant Valley Country Club. She was a founding member of Central Arkansas’ Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary and an active member of the Twentieth Century Club. Her volunteer services included: being a “Gray Lady” at Fort Root VA Hospital, an assistant in the Arkansas Children’s Hospital gift shop, a hostess at the Arkansas Arts Center, and greeter at the Arkansas State House Tourism Center that was later located at Curran Hall. For many years, she was an active member of the River Ridge Garden Club as well as the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Huguenot Society. Survivors include step-sister Nadine Dietzel of Memphis, her children Esther Miller and husband Mickey of Little Rock, Madolyn Barnes and husband Mackey of Houston: eight grandchildren, Laura Scott and husband Wayne of Dallas, Dr. J.J. Miller and wife Kim of Little Rock, Blake Miller and wife Debra of Little Rock, Katherine Sasser and husband Timm of Fort Worth, Sarah Barnes, Melissa Barnes, Priscilla Barnes and John David Barnes of Houston: nine great grandchildren, Matthew, Mary Elizabeth and Michael Scott of Dallas, Madolyn, Witt and Murphy Miller of Little Rock, Brooks Miller of Little Rock and Annie and Jake Sasser of Fort Worth. Nephews and nieces include: Charles Kimbro, Billy Zook, Randy Zook, Peggy Morrison, Bonnie Beth Zook, Anne Ferguson, and Joy Summons. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, January 9, 2007, in the chapel of Ruebel Funeral home with Pastor Steve Wallace officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 pm Monday January 8, 2007, at the funeral home. Madolyn, I read about your Mother and am so sorry. I have such fond memories of her and our times together. My prayers are with each of you.

Mrs. Womeldorff was a respected Charter member of The Salvation Army Auxiliary. She was loved by our members and will be missed. We pray that the family will be comforted by the Holy Spirit as they grieve.
