Linda,
I was so shocked when I got a message from Julia Williams last night telling me about Michael. I feel so bad that I am only finding out about this now. If I had known, I would have reached out sooner. I know we have all lost touch over the years, but Michael was a great childhood friend and it's hard to believe he is gone. He we will always bring a smile to my face when I think about our old gang on Centenary and what fun we had together. Miss you!!!

Just found out about Mike's passing, and am devastated. Mike and I lived together for 3 years during our time at North Texas, and I counted him as a great friend. I'm nearing 50 now, but still not sure I've laughed as hard with anyone as I did with Mike. We fell out of touch in recent years, but I think of him often. Linda, I know you guys had a special relationship, and I can only imagine how difficult this year has been.

My cousin Michael was just a year younger and we had the best times together as kids. Typically we would get together each Christmas season. My sister Angela and I would pull Michael in different directions since he was "the favorite cousin" for both of us. It was so exciting to see Uncle Bob, Aunt Linda & Michael pull into our driveway at our old house in Whitehaven in the 70's. Those were the days. It's crazy to think about how much has changed since those times. As we aged we unfortunately grew apart. I remember being so jealous of him in our 20's because he was so focused, driven and over achieved at whatever he did. Even though he was younger he was many years ahead of me with regards to maturing and knowing what he wanted to do with his life. He will certainly be missed and will always be my favorite cousin.

I've put off writing to you Mike as I wrestled with your loss. This is difficult. You were a great friend. I have been blessed with an amazing group of friends I grew up with - too many to say any one is a "best" friend as they are all best friends. I count you among those best friends. There was a time in Dallas when you were truly my "best" friend. I remember going through a really dark time when your smile and laughter kept me going. I remember sleeping on your couch when I wasn't welcome in my own home anymore as I went through a divorce. I remember you and I were an inseparable pair during that time as you helped me move on. We had a lot of fun, a lot of laughs, and you always brought people together. Godspeed Joe Mike. I hope you have finally found peace. I miss you.

Aunt Linda.
I'm so sad to hear about the loss of Michael. We connected in so many ways over time, as children and adults. I've got some awesome photos of us when we were young at family reunions. My best memories were the many years we spent at Bobby's for Christmas. He was always so much fun to be around. I so looked forward to seeing him every year. When the yearly visits ended, I spoke to him on the phone a few times to offer my support and love.
My husband Paul also had the pleasure of meeting you both and sends his condolences.
We love you!

I have many fond memories of Michael from when I was young. He used to always come down for holidays and we always had so much fun. I always looked up to Michael as a big brother and he always set a good example. I haven't seen Michael in many years but I will always remember the great times we had. RIP Brother

Remember playing with and against you for years in soccer, and for some reason having much better results when you were on my team! What's that about!!!
Gonna miss those hundreds of elite olympic quality ping pong matches we had later in college days. We may have been a bit past our "prime" physical condition, but I don't remember laughing or ever having more fun in my life.
Miss you tons Mike and am lucky to have called you my friend.
Thoughts and prayer for you and your family.

I was very young the last time I saw Michael. I don't have many clear memories, but I do specifically remember that he always had a smile on his face. I asked my dad about him a few months ago and he filled me with stories about what a great person he truly was. He will always be remembered as a great man.

Linda,
Michael was one of the sweetest boys I have ever known. The most beautiful smile. Some of my fondest memories are Christmas celebrations and decorating Easter eggs. He had a way of livening up any celebration. Michael was always so great with F.J. & Ryan. Such a wonderful big
brother. I wish they could have had more time together.
Michael will be remembered in my prayers always.

I miss you Mike and will remain forever thankful for your friendship and our countless fun times together. We shared amazing, priceless memories ? in your Olds, my Celica and Jimmy, the many things that happened on Mellon Street seen only by Pepper the old blind dog, at Hall High, soccer tourneys, the Atlanta Olympics, and our NOLA trips. These and many others will stay with me always. When you moved to LR from Dallas in 7th grade, we became fast friends and you had a lasting impact on the wonder years that followed. Your competitiveness and leadership by example made everyone around you better. And your creative eye helped us see, hear and laugh at life in ways we otherwise might have missed. We were born on the same day in the same hospital. There were plenty of days in high school I wished the doctors had switched us at birth so I could live with Jocko. Your cutting humor and ability to smile and laugh at everyone and everything, including yourself, is surpassed only by hers. Sending much love and appreciation to your incredible mother. Jocko ? thank you for the gift of Joseph Michael Farris.

I'm really not sure where to begin....from right after we met on the soccer field when you moved here in the 7th grade, we became close friends. There are so many great memories I will never forget from: the formation of the Jockoteers with your sweet mother as our team manager, chauffeur, and #1 cheerleader, the road trips, the pretzel balls, the Tulsa soccer tournament at The Camelot with the Miss Gay Oklahoma competition, then having the philosophical conversation in the middle of the night with the contestants while JB ate his bucket of chicken, the OldsmoBuick, the Brady Dome, driving "Incognito" with glacier glasses, the countless goals you scored to the championships we won together. To this day, I've never seen another soccer player with so little speed :), who could cut and make people look so silly with such ease. I'll also never forget the first time playing against you at Forest Heights, when I realized that you also played sneaky, with that little push in the back! Your ability on and off the field were rarely seen. Your candle burned brighter than most while you were here with us, and I will always regret that it burned out too soon. You were a great friend, and I will forever miss your constant smile, your infectious laugh, and most of all you. You were my friend.

Just one last time, it would be great to hear you say, "Flog it, Jocko!"

I have such wonderful memories of Mike. He was the first soccer player I knew, and he introduced me to REM -- one of the best bands ever! We had such a great time together. He was my prom date when I was a junior, and I will never forget him. What a sweetheart. I am so sorry for your loss.

God knew way in advance the perfect mother for Michael. I remember when that beautiful boy was born. We had so much fun playing with him. I remember how hard we would laugh at the things he did. I practiced mothering on Michael before my own baby was born. I am so sad and my heart aches for all who loved and were close to Michael. I wish I could be there for you. I am sending all my love to you Linda.
