Biography: The Reverend Maurice Clive Webb, Sr., 101, of Little Rock, died January 12, 2015. He was born on September 25, 1913, in Kansas City, MO, to the late Joseph and Winnie Webb. He is predeceased by his wife of 68 years, Atha Williams Webb; his sister Pauline Webb and his brother Boyce Webb. His 98 year old sister, Lorene Hamilton, of Walnut Ridge, was able to spend this past Christmas with her dear older brother. He is also survived by his three children Maurice C. Webb, Jr, Bigelow, Marcia Caplinger (Kelsy), and Kathy Webb, Little Rock. Additional survivors are his three grandchildren, Paul (Trey) Lecky III (Nancy), Woodland Park, CO; Laura Lecky Coulter (John), Little Rock; and Mauri Lecky Arnold, Tampa, FL., and his six great grandchildren Samantha and Matthew Lecky, Jonathan Webb Coulter, and Rachel, Katherine and Eliza Arnold. Each grandchild and great grandchild was blessed to have been baptized by Papaw/Pop at First United Methodist Church, Little Rock. Rev. Webb graduated from Hendrix College and Perkins School of Theology, SMU. Prior to entering the ministry, he owned grocery stores in Blytheville and Egypt, AR. He was a World War II veteran, serving with the Navy Seabees in Guam. His ministry included serving United Methodist congregations in Little Rock and Springdale, including 14 years as the Associate Pastor of First United Methodist Church, Little Rock. He and his wife shared a memorable experience and made many friends when he participated in a summer pastoral exchange program with the Methodist Church in Brighton, England. Webb was a member of West Little Rock Rotary, and he was well-known for his perfect attendance and his prolific guest list. He was proud to be a Paul Harris Fellow. Although he lost the ability to see, he never complained about his lights being off. On the occasion of his 95th birthday, he invited many friends and family to join him as he walked across the Big Dam Bridge. His positive attitude, perseverance and kindness were an inspiration to all who knew him. The family would like to thank his caregivers, Ely Bondoc, Janet Hubbard, Everett Roddy, and the staff at Good Shepherd and Hospice Home Care for the wonderful and loving assistance they provided. Rev. Webb always expressed his gratitude for things big and small, with either a ?thank you? or a hearty ?Amen!? A memorial service will be held Monday, January 19, at 1:00 pm at First United Methodist Church, Little Rock. On Rev. Webb?s 100th birthday, his church home gave him the honor of naming him Pastor Emeritus. In lieu of flowers, he requested that memorials be made to First United Methodist Church, Little Rock, 723 Center Street, Little Rock, AR 72201.

Rev. Webb became a huge part of my family as Everett joined his caregiving team. Everett enjoyed learning so much from Rev. Webb about life! I often wished I could be a bug on the wall when they spent time together. I'm glad I got to visit at Christmas. My deepest love and sympathy extends to his family. Thank you for sharing him with my son. He was a great friend to us and we will miss him.

My sincere condolences to the Webb family. I first met Rev. Webb when he and his family were assigned to Asbury Methodist in Little Rock. I must have been about 15 years old. For many years after they left Asbury every time I saw Rev. or Mrs. Webb they called me by name and asked about my family. They were truly dedicated to serving the people of the church. I know Rev. Webb will be greatly missed by those who knew him. He left a lasting impression on my life and many others as well.

If ever there was a special place in Heaven for very special people, Rev. Webb is there now. He and his entire family made me feel at home and then introduced me to people who became friends for life. From the time I met Maurice & Atha as a ballplayer for the Travelers in 1970 to marrying my wife and I, I will never forget his smile, his wry sense of humor and the vitality of the conversations around their kitchen table when the family was at home. God Bless!

Mr. Webb always brought a smile to my face when I saw him.
He loved his family so much and was always ready to talk about their accomplishments. It seemed we never left a conservation without discussing some aspect of sports. We could all learn from his open mind and heart.
