Psalm 56:8 Melissa Kay Owen, 38, of Little Rock, entered the Church Triumphant on December 24, 2014. Born on April 5, 1976, in Little Rock, Arkansas, to Paul and Becky Owen, Melissa was a loving mother, daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, aunt, companion, and friend. Predeceased by her paternal grandparents Wayne and Fern Owen and maternal grandfather Russell R. (Buddy) Fraim, Melissa is survived by her son Wesley Latham who will graduate from Catholic High School for Boys in the spring, parents Paul and Becky Owen, brother and sister-in-law Jeffrey and Kristin Owen and niece Ellery Owen, grandmother Betty Fraim, uncle and aunt Charlie and Beth Dixon and cousin Katie Dixon, and uncle and aunt Bill and Marilyn Owen. She is also survived by her special companion Bill Sterk, her two dachshunds Chewy and Peanut, and many special friends. Melissa was an honor graduate with the Class of 1994 from Bryant High School. Using her full Arkansas Academic Award scholarship, she attended Arkansas State University. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Graphic Design from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Throughout her earlier years, Melissa was involved in competitive ice-skating, runway and print modeling, dance, and school spirt squad participation. An avid Razorback fan and Disney enthusiast, Melissa?s most favorite times were spent with family and friends during summer vacations on the beaches surrounding Destin, Florida. She also enjoyed spending great times and establishing long-term relationships with friends at local establishments. As a pre-determined request, Melissa requested to donate her usable organs with the help of the Arora Recovery program. Happily, five recipients have now received life-altering gifts. Led by the Rev. Betsy Singleton Snyder, a memorial service with a reception to follow will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church on January 3, 2015, at 11:00am. The family would like to thank the assisting team at UAMS for their special care and the staff of Arora, the Arkansas Regional Organ Recovery Agency.
