Biography: Richard Everett Francis Jarboe, 24, of Walnut Ridge, was born May 12, 1982. After a valiant eleven month battle with cancer, Richard passed away and joined his King and Savior January 1, 2007. He begins a new year with a new life. Richard has been an inspiration to his family and friends. He fought his disease with courage, a sense of humor, and with the love and prayers of family and many friends of many different religious denominations. Richard is survived by his parents, Dick and Jane Jarboe; his brothers, Aaron Jarboe and Andy Jarboe; a sister and her husband, Kimberly and Jason Hammock; three neices, Katelyn, Kaylie, and Hannah Hammock; his maternal grandmother, Ruby Nahlen; his maternal Aunt Kathy Fooks and Aunt Nancy Nahlen; his maternal Uncle, Dr. Bernard Nahlen; his paternal Aunt Sarah and Uncle John Brownlee; his "special" paternal Aunt Linda and Uncle Richard Vogan; his "special" neighbor and adopted grandmother Anna Laura Long; his pet Nikki, and many cousins and other relatives who loved and cherished their time with him. Richard's "special" Aunt Linda and Uncle Richard allowed him to move in with them, helped take care of him, spent quality hours with him and took care of his as their own. His "special cousin" Hannah and husband Andrew D'Arezzo declined her last assignment as a traveling registered nurse in order to remain in Little Rock and assist with his care. Richard is predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Robert and Helen Jarboe of Lake Village, maternal grandfather Herman Nahlen of North Little Rock, his maternal uncles, Ronnie and Martin Nahlen, and his paternal aunt, Shirley Davidson. Richard graduated from Hendrix College in 2004 with a degree in history and spent his junior year studying at Oxford University in England. He was the recipient of a Chairman's Scholarship, Leadership Scholarship, and Theatre Scholarship to Hendrix College. Richard was inducted into the Omega Psi Chapter of Pi Sigma Alpha, the National Political Science Honor Society while attending Hendrix. He was employed as a paralegal with his father, Attorney Dick Jarboe of Walnut Ridge and Attorney James Allison of Memphis, Tennessee at the time of his illness. His career goal was to become a lawyer. Richard was a valedictorian of the class of 2000 of Walnut Ridge High School. He was a member of the National Honor Society, the WRHS State Champion Quiz Bowl Team where he enjoyed many hours of competition, comaraderie, and humor with his friends and his coach, Mrs. Joyce Rose. He also participated in Quiz Bowl competitions as a moderator after his graduation from high school. Anne-Marie Maddox and Reed Thompson of ACRC, and Dr. Jose Penagaricano of CARTI and numerous nurses, radiological technicians, and medical assistants. Richard's service will be held at St. Anne's Catholic Church in North Little Rock on Thursday, January 4, 2007, at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
