Debbie Dillon was my calculus teacher in the twelfth grade at NLRNE.We called her "Mother Calculus" and ourselves "the pioneers of calculus." We adored her.
She was smart, good humored, and patient. We felt like we were a team, and she was out leader as together we tried to figure out not just math problems but our teenaged issues.
I am sorry I am only now learning of her death. I always thought I would run into her again in real life or on social media. I have told my kids about her for years, using her as an example of a teacher who explained complex material in a clear, meaningful way and at the same time created a joyful and supportive classroom environment. One of my sons is a calculus teacher.

Hello my wonderful sister Debbie.
How is everything going over there?
Now in japan, it is 17:46 on saturday january 13th.
I and Yumiko started job from last tuesday as usual after came back from US. This time,I was so happy to be able to visit Little Rock and celebrate Christmas with you and our big family. I never forget that moment forever.
Though you went to God's place,I can clearly see you and always live in my heart. Debbie, when I met you this time,I don't know why, I recalled about that I visited the highschool with mother where you taught math 28 years ago.And I walked in campas beside you and mother. Did you have a tennis rackt at that time? Maybe you did.
It realy was a long time ago wasn't it?
You are still beautiful and wonderful even now as I met you first time. And your honesty ,heart-warming personality, and everything about you are respected by everyone.
So I am so proud of my big sister.
I want to shout to the world that "She is my American sister"

See you, Debbie!

I love you so much!

From your brother Morio.

Dear Tom: Though we have never met, I just wanted to let you know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. As a high school classmate of Debbie's, I remember sharing many happy experiences with her - singing in choir, performing in school productions, serving together as graduation speakers to name a few. She was always a mainstay of our Monday morning chapel service at North Little Rock High School and even as a young girl, had the courage to live her faith on a daily basis. She was always held in the utmost respect by those of us who had the privilege of attending school with her. I am certain that the angels in Heaven rejoiced as she entered its gates and she has already heard her Master's voice, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant." God bless you, Tom. She will be truly missed.

I count it a privelege to have known Debbie and to have grown up under her teaching, wisdom, and encouragement. She is truly a woman after God's own heart. She influenced my life in so many ways and for that I am thankful.

What a fight. What a witness. Tom, You and Debbie have been an unbelievable representation of God's grace through these last couple of years. Your faith and the reflection of God's love and care has been phenomenal. This is a new chapter now for you, Tom. I will pray that God will continue to pour out his love and care for you in tangible ways. I look forward to the day when I will see Debbie again and will have no limits on the time we can spend together. You are loved.

Tom, Our family will be praying for you. It is hard to find the words to express how much Debbie meant to soo many people. If in heaven there is a line to thank those who 'gave' (as in the song 'So glad you gave...'), Debbie's line will be full and our family will be in that line! As I shared with my parents, only God knows the number of spiritual children and grandchildren you and Debbie have and only God knows the countless lives that have been changed because of your walk with Christ. May we all live each day as Debbie did! With our love.

I have many wonderful childhood memories of Deborah and her family at Ranch Estates. It is a sad time for us on this planet that she is gone, but I am certain she left a loving legacy.

I would like to extend my deepest sympathy to Debbie's family. She touched many lives, and I wanted the family to know I was one.

Tom:

Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this huge loss. We have faithfully prayed for you and Debbie through this trial. What a race both of you have run! Should I ever face the same fate, Debbie has certainly set the example of how to endure, persevere with joy and gloriously cross the finish line. What an "abundant entrance" (2 Peter 1) I know she experienced as she finished her race. The days have been long and tough for you, I know, and they will continue to be in the days ahead as you say goodbye, work through your grief, and adjust to Debbie's absence. I can confidently say that God's grace will be sufficient as you rely on Him each step of the way. Thanks for being a loyal, loving husband and for all the care you have administered to her over this long experience. You have set an example for all of us, as well. We will not fail to pray for you and wish we could be there for the celebration of her life tomorrow. I know that it will be AWESOME!!! We'll always miss her, too.

With sincere love,

Debbie was the strongest person that I have ever known. She taught me to live life by looking at the obstacles in life through the lense of faith in Christ. She was happiest when she could do something for someone and she always had an encouraging smile. I am certain that she has already busied herself in heaven praising God just as she did while she was here with us. I will miss my friend but I will see her again.

Tom - How fortunate you were to have Debbie share your life. I followed your journey together through your constant email messages and was overwhelmed by your ability to walk with such faith in the face of illness and pain. I am changed because of that never-fading faith. Perhaps that is Debbie's legacy.
Your cousin,
Janet

Tom and family: Debbie played a big part in helping my wife Tina become the godly woman she was, as her high school Sunday School teacher and college sponsor. I have so many memories of spending time in the Dillon living room when Tina and I started dating, in the ski lodge, etc. Since our journey began with the Dillons, it is ironic that our lives took parallel paths as our families battled cancer together. Through it all Debbie continued to inspire Tina and me. My prayers and support are with you, just as you were there for us.

Tom,
It saddened me, and my two children who knew Debbie..Sherri and Andy, to hear of Debbie's death. We all talked about the wonderful, Godly women who will be sorely missed by many whose lives she touched. Tom, I know this is a difficult time...so know we're thinking about you and the family and lifting you up to God for comfort and strength.

Dear Tom and family,

We love you all and will continue to lift you up to Him over the next days and months to come. Debbie was truly one of a kind....we all should strive to be more like she was - kind, happy, caring and the Lord always shone through in her! We were blessed to have known her...Robert and I remember when ya'll joined GSFBC - what a blessing you both have been to it! You both have been such a blessing to both of our kids and for your influence in their lives, we are both so appreciative. I personally will miss sitting by Debbie in choir - what a gorgeous voice she had and she was one of the best "sight readers" I've ever had the pleasure to sit by! We love you Tom....your walk with Him through all of this has been truly an inspiration to us all. If you need anything, please know you can call on us! Love, Debbie and Robert Lindley

Mrs. Debbie will always be remembered in my heart. As I heard the sermon this morning at church, I couldn't help but think of Mrs. Debbie. She will truly be remembered as an encourager, a hard worker, a forgiver, and one the truly loved her Lord.

She was a great blessing to me and my family.

Tom, you and Debbie touched my life in so many ways while in high school. I will never forget the many nights we spent late into the evening in your living room after church. Debbie always made us feel welcome in your home. My heart goes out to you right now. I am sorry I cannot be in Little Rock for the funeral, we are leaving today to go back to Houston. Tricia and both will be praying for you during the coming weeks. We love you and thank you for investing in our lives.

What an incredible woman of God. We are so blessed to have known her. Tom, we love you and we are lifting all of you up in our prayers. Thanks for sharing her with us and allowing her to touch as many lives as she did every day. She will be missed but is singing her heart out in the heavenly choir. And if I know Debbie, she is coordinating the snack for the youth that are singing. She will be missed until we see her again. We love you!!!!
