Biography: Jack William Hamilton, 81, passed away on November 24, 2014 in Little Rock, Arkansas, following a long illness. He is survived by his wife of 45 years Claudia Harrison Hamilton, his son Harry Keith Hamilton and wife Laura Gail Hamilton, and grandchildren Rebecca Michelle and Sarah Elise Hamilton. He is also survived by his sister Jeanette Trimble and husband Bob, his sister Betty Jean Pool, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Harry Bell and Jessie Williamson Hamilton of Little Rock, Arkansas. After graduating from Little Rock High School, Jack attended Little Rock Junior College. He continued his education at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, where he graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering. He began his career with Mehlburger Engineers and retired from the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality. True to his engineering background, he was meticulous and precise in many home projects, such as building a basketball goal for his son. Jack loved the outdoors, enjoying camping and hiking. His favorite places to visit were the mountains, and he particularly enjoyed introducing his wife and son to the majesty of the Rocky Mountains for the first time. In his youth, Jack played baseball and tennis. He spent many happy hours teaching and playing both with his son. He continued his love of sports well into his 70s by playing senior league softball. Jack was a quiet, kind, and good-hearted person who was always willing to help others. When his neighbor was unable to walk her dog, Jack offered to do so and did for many years. Everyone in the neighborhood knew Jack and Gracie the boxer. Jack was proud of the fact that he lived in the same house for 80 years and where he raised his family. The family would like to thank the caring ministries of Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church for their prayers and visits. We would also especially like to thank caregiver Carolyn Bores for her kindness and care of Jack during his illness. Memorial service will be held December 1, 2014 at 11am at Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church, 4823 Woodlawn, Little Rock AR 72205, where Jack was a member since 1944. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church or the Pulaski County Humane Society; 14600 Colonel Glenn Rd, Little Rock, AR 72210. Arrangements are under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home, www.ruebelfuneralhome.com

So sorry to hear about Jack's death. I remember him very well from Forest Park through Little Rock Junior College. He was always very nice. A few years ago I saw him at our high school class reunion, and we had a very nice conversation. My thoughts and prayers will be with all of this family.
