In addition to his love for the outdoors, he enjoyed playing the guitar for relaxation and enjoyed many types of music. He is survived by his parents and sister, his grandmother, Jean Roberts, aunt Ann Hatley, uncle, Dr. Tom Roberts and wife, Jackie all of Little Rock. He is also survived by cousins, Dr. Johnny Hatley, Anna Leigh Phillips, Charlie Roberts, Katie Roberts and Matt Roberts. I was deeply saddened when I heard of your son's death two days before Christmas. I read his obituary the next day and thought to myself how much he and my son, Richard, had in common. At the time of Jim's death, my family was awaiting the inevitable for our own son, Richard. I couldn't help but grieve with you also. My son, Richard, lost his 11-month battle with cancer on January 1. I truly, truly, truly, understand your pain. My sincerest condolences, Jane

I just briefly got to know Jim through UALR and had one or two wonderful chats with him. We both loved politics and I believe he was just one of the more keen minds I have come across in some time. May God be with your family in this trying time.

I first met Jim in a botany class we shared in 2003. After that class, we were always running into each other on campus and Jim never failed to give a big grin & a wave. He always stopped to have a quick chat if we had the time. He was just an all-around friendly person and I think everyone who ever met him had to like him. It was very touching to recognize so many people at the funeral from UALR. This definitely shows the positive impact that Jim had on so many. I also wanted to share with you the beautiful rainbow that appeared Friday afternoon after the funeral. I would like to believe that it is a sign that Jim has gone to a wonderful place called heaven. I have a picture of this rainbow and would be happy to share it with your family if you wish. Please send an email if you would like to see it. With deepest sympathy.

My heart still does not believe. I only met Jim when he would come over to my son's apartment while I was visiting. I remember a well-mannered, clean-cut young man who always had a smile and something pleasant to say. He was one of my son's closest friends and one I saw most frequently. I grew very fond of him. My thoughts are with you. We shall miss him always.

To the Family and Friends of Jim Garison,
Even though we did not know Jim personally, we feel that we have lost a member of our family at MNB. We have heard nothing but wonderful things about Jim and so tragic is it that he was taken so soon. We will keep all of you in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. May God be with you and comfort you.

Mr. & Mrs. Garison,
My heart felt prayers go to you and your family
in the loss of Jim. I am a former Metbank employee. I was robbed at gunpoint. The robber jumped the teller counter & had the gun in my back. This tragedy brought back these awful memories. Words cannot express my sadness for your loss. If you need to talk, I am here.
