Biography: James R. “Jim” Garison, of Little Rock died Saturday December 23, 2006. He was born on December 31, 1980 to Robert and Holley Roberts Garison. He was raised in Little Rock and graduated in May 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, where he was on the Dean and Chancellor’s Lists and member of Pi Sigma Alpha, the National Political Science Honor Society. During his college studies, he served as an intern in the office of Senator Mark Pryor, as well as with the City of Maumelle. He was looking forward to graduate school and planned to get a Master in Business Administration. Jim was an avid lover of the outdoors. He loved bicycling and hiking in his spare time and had made many trips out west to visit. Some of his favorite places included Yellowstone National Park, the Grand Canyon, and Moab, Utah. He loved photography and these locations, as well as various scenic spots in Arkansas, were the inspirations for his pictures. In addition to his love for the outdoors, he enjoyed playing the guitar for relaxation and enjoyed many types of music. Jim was a wonderful, caring person who will be missed greatly by his parents, his sister Beth, and his large extended family and friends. He is survived by his parents and sister, his grandmother, Jean Roberts, aunt Ann Hatley, uncle, Dr. Tom Roberts and wife, Jackie all of Little Rock. He is also survived by cousins, Dr. Johnny Hatley, Anna Leigh Phillips, Charlie Roberts, Katie Roberts and Matt Roberts. A Visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Ruebel Funeral Home. Funeral services for Jim will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church by Rev. Carey Stone with burial following in Pinecrest Memorial Park. Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to Arkansas State Parks, Garison Memorial Fund, #1 Capitol Mall, Little Rock, AR 72201.
