Biography: Josephine Katherine Trinco, age 91, passed away in Little Rock on December 17, 2006. She was born Josephine LaPorte on January 29, 1915, the fifth of six children born to Louis and Mary Grace LaPorte, who immigrated from Italy in the early 1900’s. She married Anthony Trinco on November 24, 1938 and raised her family initially in Chicago, then in Hinsdale, Illinois. She took residence in Little Rock in 1990 to enjoy milder winters and to spend time with her daughter and her family. Josephine was relentlessly optimistic and loved living her life every day. Proudly independent and self sufficient, she began to drive until her 91st birthday. She bravely recovered from a stroke suffered on January 30, 2006, with the same determination she demonstrated throughout her life. She returned to her home until suffering a more severe stroke in August. Josephine was equally happy spending time visiting friends or running errands in Little Rock with her daughter. She especially loved the Christmas season and would start her meticulous preparations well before Christmas every year. She also enjoyed traveling with her family and traveled coast-to-coast so as not to miss a single family reunion, wedding, graduation, or other family event. Relatives and friends from throughout the country traveled to Chicago on January 29, 2005 to celebrate her 90th birthday showing the love toward her felt by all who knew her. She was deeply loved by her grandson, who affectionately referred to her as “TaTa,” and by her many nieces and nephews and their children, who called her “Aunt Josie.” Her friends in Little Rock shared that same affection by calling her “Miss Josephine.” She was blessed in June with the birth of her great granddaughter and honored with her being named Ella Josephine, which ensures that her legacy as an icon in her family will always be remembered. She was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony Trinco, who died in 1970, and four siblings. Survivors include her daughter, Dianne Tucker and husband Robert of Little Rock; son, William Trinco of Hinsdale, Illinois; a grandson, Robert Tucker, II, and wife Devon of Little Rock; a sister, Anna Cannon of Chicago; her beloved great-granddaughter, Ella Josephine Tucker; and numerous nieces and nephews and their children. Funeral services will be held in Chicago, with a memorial service to be held locally at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 26, 2006 at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, Little Rock. Memorials, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the St. Vincent Foundation, Two St. Vincent Circle, Little Rock, AR 72205. Local arrangements are under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home of Little Rock, www.ruebelfuneralhome.com.
