Biography: Martha Elizabeth (Betty) Moore Wassell, died Thursday, July 3, 2014, in Little Rock, Arkansas. She was born in Little Rock on March 5, 1920 and was the daughter of William H. Moore and Evelyn Branch Moore. She was a graduate of Little Rock Junior College. On June 10, 1943 she married Dr. John R. Wassell, son of WWII Naval hero Rear Admiral Corydon McAlmont Wassell. She and her husband, John, were founding members of St. Mark?s Episcopal Church where Betty volunteered and worked in the Book Mark gift shop for many years. She volunteered at the Blood Bank and was a member of the Medical Wives Auxiliary (Baptist Health Little Rock Auxiliary). She was a former member of Riverdale Country Club and Pleasant Valley Country Club. She enjoyed bridge, University of Arkansas football, painting in watercolor and many other activities. Survivors are a daughter, Joy Ann Wassell of Little Rock; son, John R. Wassell, Jr. and wife, Elizabeth Field Wassell of Johns Creek, GA; their children, Stephen Lamar Wassell and Susan Elizabeth Wassell Staveley; son, Dr.William Moore Wassell and wife, Irene Wassell of New Iberia, LA; and his children, William Moore Wassell, Jr., Rebecca Mari Wassell, and Jennifer Wassell Kaumeyer; 8 great-grandchildren, Samuel Corydon Wassell, Ansley Virginia Wassell, Elizabeth Evelyn Staveley, McLain Kent Staveley, James Corydon Wassell, John Tucker Wassell, Gracie Jane Kaumeyer and Lincoln McAlmont Kaumeyer. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, July 7, 2014 at Mount Holly Cemetery followed by a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. at St. Mark?s Episcopal Church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Mark?s Episcopal Church, 1000 N. Mississippi St., Little Rock, AR 72207. Arrangements by Ruebel Funeral Home, www.ruebelfuneralhome.com.

I remember your mother from when I was a child and again in the 1970's when I purchased your grandmother's twin beds. Your daddy used to come to our home and treat me for measles, mumps and you name it. Your parents always showed true compassion towards others. My sincere condolences in your loss.
