Dear Karpoff Famiy ,
I was deeply saddened to hear about the loss of Elizabeth. I remember meeting her in High School at the powder puff football game between Central and Hall where "us" guys were cheerleaders.I knew her sister Kathy and brother Matt from Hall. A few years later while in College we went out together a few times and always remained friends.I would run into her in the Heights occasionally and at Kroger at least once a month. We would stop in the aisle and have lengthy talks and catch up about what each other had been up to. We inconvenienced a few people at times blocking the shelf they were trying to get to .She met my daughter while grocery shopping and found out she was in nursing school. She thought that was great and encouraged her to study hard. She would be proud to know that she completed her studies in the nursing program . We would always give each other a hug and go on our way saying " see ya soon" and usually run into each other on several of the next aisles . She was a fun, smart ,caring person who always would take the time to listen or help a friend.
As the singer Billy Joel once sang about "Only the good die young". So true in this case.
Peace and condolences to the family , Elizabeth will be missed by family and many friends.

There are no good words to express the deep and empty sadness I feel at the loss of my sister, Elizabeth. Could it have been prevented? Or was it in God's time that she was called home to be with Him?

Hurt, torment, anger, love, loss; all felt at once with faith that she is in a better place. I know, in faith, that I will see her again.

" Give my love to the boy down the road, and tell him not to cry; for I know."

By sis, we love you

Elizabeth, like many TB public health nurses, was devoted to her profession. Although she avoided the spotlight, when given the opportunity to talk publicly about the work that she so loved, she had an amazing ability to communicate the essence of the activity and the important contributions made by the work. Her spiritual foundation provided a solid base for serving others. She will be missed and the TB control family grieves her loss along with her family.

I am saddened to hear of Elizabeth's passing. It's hard to believe that such a vibrant, sweet soul is no longer with us. Elizabeth was such a loving, compassionate person who managed to see the good in everyone and was always fun to be around. Sending thoughts and prayers for peace and comfort to Matt, Shannon, Matthew, Alex and Elizabeth, always.

I am very sorry for your loss. I went to Central High School with Liz. I remember her being on the high steppers. She was very fiesty and didn't take no stuff from noone. I loved her spirit, her enthusiasm and her natural red hair. Approximate 7 years ago, she worked with me and my church to help us form our Holistic Health ministry. She was an enormous help to us. She was well liked and she will be missed by me, my classmates and the Holistic Health Ministry at First Baptist Church, Highland Park, Little Rock, AR.

We were saddened to hear about the loss of our fellow work colleague. Elizabeth was a jovial, vibrant person. She was dedicated to her job, helping tuberculosis patients all through out the state of Arkansas. We will remember her daily phone calls, and appreciate her help in being a bridge between the TB lab, TB program, and the numerous hospitals through out our state. My memories of Betsy are the laughter and happy conversation she shared with you, Katherine, two sisters and a sister and brother (me and Frank) carrying on the way siblings do, our Yankee sensibilities all shaken up in a good way by two joyous and spirited Southern Belles - and the Christmas day phonecalls, and the way Betsy always remembered my kids and gave me advice and confidence when I was a shaky new Mother. It?s not surprising to see on this page how loved she was! Be strong. Love you, L

EK, in those frightful moments I believe you had chance to plead for God's inexhaustible Mercy. Room 457 is silent, unbelievable, and I push on with tuberculosis epidemiology in R459, the neighbor at work. I vividly remember our last phone call. You left such a void in the TB Program. I hope to see you in the Father's House and know everything..
Eternal peace EK.

Elizabeth is and will be forever remembered by her nursing colleagues as a bright, spirited, and professional public health nurse. She was very knowledgable and willing to share her expertise when called upon. She was always straight forward and you were never in doubt where you stood with her. I really liked and respected Elizabeth and miss working with her. Bless your family and know that she loved you deeply. May she rest in peace and her memory burn brightly.

Many years have passed since the Karpoff family lived down the street from us. What I remember most about Elizabeth is her love of animals, we had two dogs that decided they like to escape from the yard, and neighbors often found them unwanted guest. When animal control would come after them (I was at work) if Elizabeth was around she would run up and let them back in the yard so the dogs would not get arrested. This happened more than once, and if for no other reason we loved her. She later became someone we just happened to see on occasion, but her smile always bright and welcoming. A beautiful person inside and out. Rest in peace dear Elizabeth. We know there is a hole in the Karpoff family but now filled with a red headed angel.

LITTLE BIRD
(Dolly Parton)

Beauty is a rare perfume
precious yet doesn't last long
Youth is but a playful breeze
that blows our way once then moves on

Love is a hidden treasure
some never find where it lies
And memory is a little bird
that flies through life and never dies

Little bird take me aboard
your beautiful wings and let me fly
Fly me away back to yesterday
and drop me off there awhile

Let me smell the rare perfume
of the sweet flower of beauty again
Let me run in the playful breeze
of youth long gone with the wind

Let me sit for a while by the place
where I found the treasure of love
Then sing me a song as you fly me along
on a long last journey above

My sister, Betsy, was happiest and shined brightest when she was caring for others. She always extended a helping hand, pet-sitting, baby-sitting, nursing, and advising friends and family. She loved these ?jobs?, so thank you all for giving her these opportunities. Always remember your life is meaningful to others.

Sincere condolences to the family of Elizabeth.. I taught her English many years ago at Little Rock Central, but I have not forgotten her easy smile, many acts of kindness, and the times she made me laugh. Also, she was an excellent student who learned very quickly and had a strong sense of curiosity about whatever we were studying. She left us too soon. She will be missed.
