Biography: Greg Bumpas, 48, of Little Rock, passed away April 16, 2014 after a long battle with a debilitating illness. He was born May 24, 1965 to Dr. Joe H. and Julia Bumpas in Little Rock, Arkansas. Greg is preceded in death by his father, Dr. Joe H. Bumpas and by his long-time friends John Richisen and Paul Brizzolara. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Susan Bumpas and his son Joseph Andrew ?Drew? Bumpas. He is also survived by his mother Julia Bumpas, his brother Robert Raymond Bumpas, his sister, Susan Gayle Nelson and his nephew Zachary Nelson as well as many, many friends. Greg graduated from Pulaski Academy and then attended the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. He then spent time in Aspen, Colorado and Key West, Florida. Arrangements are under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home, www.ruebelfuneralhome.com

To the entire Bumpas Family, I am so sorry for your loss. Greg and I were great friends right after high school for many years. He was incredible to me and was by my side, not judging, as I came out as gay. Greg never waivered in our friendship.

I am just seeing this as I live in MN now. I am heartbroken and want you to know Susan if there is anything you or your son ever need, the sky is the limit, please reach out.

Much respect and sadness

We were so saddened to learn of Greg's passing. Although we did not know Greg well we were fortunate to be next door neighbors to Julia for years. She was always so proud of all her children and their families. May your memories warm your hearts during the days ahead and bring comfort and love to you all.

Dear Bumpas Family,
When I heard the news of Greg's death, my heart stopped. I didn't want to believe that he was gone. We grew up together and reconnected on Facebook. He was the sweetest, kindest and funniest guy I ever knew. A true "one of a kind!" And what an artist he was. Instead if taking notes in class, I'd look over and see Greg drawing something amazing.
Words just cannot express the sadness that has overcome me. You are all in my prayers.
All my love,
Amy
