Biography: Imogene ?Snooks? Torrence, 86, of Little Rock, Arkansas, passed away on April 14, 2014 in Little Rock. A graveside service will be held at Bellwood Cemetery in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, on Friday, April 18, 2014 at 11 AM, followed by a celebration of Snooks life at 2 PM at Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church, Little Rock. Snooks was born on August 2, 1927, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, to the late D.C. and Ola Mitchell Shumpert. She graduated from Little Rock High School in 1945, later attending Little Rock Junior College. In August, 1947, she married the love of her life, Kenneth Gordon Torrence of Pine Bluff, and they were married 42 years until his death in 1989. She was a long and faithful member of Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church and was active in the Prime Timers, and the Dietz Dialogue Sunday School class. She retired from the Arkansas State Employees Insurance Department. She was a very loud and avid Arkansas Razorback fan, particularly basketball and football, and was often hoarse in the days following close games. After retirement she loved traveling the US and abroad, reading, and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and sharing family holidays. In her later years, she embraced the digital age and loved playing solitaire on her iPad, and almost mastered the cell phone. Snooks was preceded in death by her husband and parents. Survivors include her daughters Kay McGehee (Bobby), Janet Hadfield (Chuck), Rebecca Ray (Bobby), all of Little Rock, AR. A sister-in-law, Evelyn Craig Case, of Hot Springs Village, AR; 6 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and a niece and nephew. Snooks family would like to extend their heartfelt and special thanks to Carol Blann, Jan Wall, Kathy Riordan, Peggy Smith, Dr. Timothy Scott Simmons, Becky Parham, and the wonderful LPN and CNA staff at West Markham Subacute and Rehabilitation Center, and Arkansas Hospice, Dogwood Team, for their friendship, many visits, and loving care they provided Snooks during her extended stay. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church Caring Ministry Network, 4823 Woodlawn Avenue, Little Rock, AR 72205. Arrangements by Ruebel Funeral Home.
