Biography: Rose Marie ?Rosie? Dunham born Feb. 13, 1927, passed away April 12, 2014 at her home. Rose was the daughter of Judge Quinn and Marie Glover. She was born and raised in Little Rock, AR. Rose graduated from Little Rock High School in the class of 1944 and then attended Ouachita Baptist as a pre-law student until she was introduced to her soon to be husband, Leon Dunham. She left college, married in 1947 and entered the world of homemaking and volunteering, for which she was known so well. Rosie was always active in PTA. She served as the President of the Arkansas State PTA and was Vice President of the National PTA. She was committed to this organization because of her conviction that during that time of integration upheaval in the school system, it was imperative that the PTA serve as a means of communication between the school system and the homes of the students. One of the other special times in her life was when she served as the director of the Baptist Student Center at Little Rock University. She loved working with young adults. She had a strong faith in God and was always willing to share it with others. She was an enthusiastic listener and touched the lives of many young people. Her favorite place to be was at her church, Pulaski Heights Baptist Church. She was very active in Sunday School, Training Union, Woman?s Missionary Union. She taught Jr. High and Senior High students for years. She was very creative and put together many Sweetheart Banquets with her friends, Janie Howell and Pancy Clements. She believed that church should be ?Fun? and she made it that way. Rosie was very honored to be the first female deacon in her church. She would proudly tell you about it. Rosie went to work at PHBC as the church secretary in her later life and absolutely loved it. Her church was her ?home away from home?. She was baptized, married and raised her family in Pulaski Heights. She was active in many organizations through the years and was Little Rock Woman of the Year. She planned and participated in many fun antics with her friend Ruby George who was Ethel to her Lucy.!! Rosie was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Dunham, son, Thomas Quinn, parents, Quinn and Marie Glover. She is survived by her daughters, April(John) Lane & Leann Broadway of Little Rock and Nancy(Rusty) Taylor of Hernando, Mississippi; grandchildren Jay(Angie) Lane, Kimberly(Mike) Pierce, Courtney(Kyle) Hodge, Ryan(Shannon) Taylor, Chad(Amber) Broadway and Whitney Broadway. 8 ? great grandchildren, ?her other daughters? Debbie Tillery, Betty Farrar and Amy Hudson and a host of cousins and friends. Rosie will be remembered as a ?born convincer?, champion of Youth and Children, and for her strong commitment to her family, her faith and her church. The family would like to thank DeeDee, Mary, Judy Kitty and Jim from Baptist Hospice for providing a caring and peaceful environment for the last few months and a very special thank you to Amy Hudson, Rosie?s caregiver for the past 5 years, for her loving care and support. Funeral services will be 10:00am Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at Pulaski Heights Baptist Church with Dr. Randy L. Hyde officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. A visitation will be held on Monday, April 14, 2014 from 5:30 until 7:30 also at Pulaski Heights Baptist Church. Memorials can be made to Pulaski Heights Baptist Church, Baptist Hospice or the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship.
