Biography: James Travis “Jamie” Crews, Jr. age 54, of Little Rock, died suddenly of a massive heart attack, Monday, November 20th, 2006. Jamie was born in Little Rock to the late James Travis Crews, Sr. who died in 2001 and his mother Carolynn Elise Conway Coleman of Little Rock. Jamie was a graduate of Hall High School before receiving his B.A. in Economics, and his M.B.A. degree in business administration from Memphis State University, now Memphis University. After school he began working for Weyerhaeuser in Dallas before being transferred to Oklahoma City. After two years in Oklahoma City he returned to Little Rock in 1982 where he began his 24 year career as a successful financial consultant with A.G. Edwards and Sons, Inc. Jamie was a member of the Little Rock Ski Club, and he loved hunting, fishing and working with clay through his pottery classes he enjoyed at The Arkansas Art Center. He was also a member of the Arkansas Canoe Club, member of the board of the Arkansas Chamber Music Society, and past member of the board of Ballet Arkansas. Jamie was also a direct descendent of three Arkansas Governors; William Savin Fulton, the last Territorial Governor, James Sevier Conway, Arkansas’ first State Governor, and Elias Nelson Conway, Arkansas’ seventh Governor. Jamie is survived by his mother Carolynn Elise Conway Coleman and husband Walter C. “Buddy” Coleman of Little Rock, a sister Angelynn Hardcastle and husband Michael of Little Rock, a brother Claibourne Curran Crews of Little Rock, nieces and nephews; Nicholas and Rebecca Hardcastle, Claire and Amanda Crews all of Little Rock, and his fiancée Beth Ann Kahn of Little Rock. He is predeceased by a sister Carolynn Elise Crews who died in 2004. There will a memorial service Wednesday, November 22nd, at 3:00pm at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church officiated by The Reverend Carey Stone.
