Biography: Joe Ann McBroom Swann, 82 of Little Rock, AR, widow of George D. Swann, passed away Monday, Feb. 24, 2014 at home surrounded by those she loved. She was predeceased by her parents W. C. and Sylven Mc Broom and Sister Delores Chesshir of Nashville, AR. She is survived by her three children, Stephanie Swann-Mendez, Doug Swann (Lisa), and Dudley Swann, Jr (Kathy) all of Little Rock, her brother W. C. McBroom of Hooks, Texas, eight grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, as well as a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, sister in laws, close friends, and a team of special care givers Kay, Nancy, Amalia, Marie, Maria, Velma, and Evelyn. Joe Ann married her childhood sweet heart in 1949. She was an active stay at home Mom who built a strong foundation for the family. Known as Nonie to her grandchildren, she cherished each child and leaves a lasting impression and legacy. Family was above all the most important part of her life. She was not only a beautiful person on the outside but a kind, generous woman who led by example. She was an artist, loved to travel, and cherished time spent with family during the summers at their peach orchard. Later years she enjoyed peaceful scenes and cool summers at her home in Maine. A celebration of her life with a visitation of family and friends will be held Thursday from 5:00 ? 7:00 at Ruebel Funeral Home. Services will be 1:00pm Friday at Pulaski Heights Baptist Church with Dr. Randy L. Hyde officiating followed by burial at Roselawn Cemetery. Memorials may be made to PHBC or a charity of your choice.

May I offer my deepest sympathy to all the family. I remember the vivacious JoAnn as a teenager in Nashville and later enjoyed seeing her at the "Shacktau" as she called the house at the orchard, always unforgettable. Janis Purtle Banister

My thoughts & prayers are with you all. I will miss her so very much. Thank you for letting me be a part of her life for the last 3 years. What a blessing & a honor. A strong, loving, funny & compassionate woman who will always have a very special place in my heart. She was such a wonderful, gracious, loving mom who loved her children all very much. Dear Stephanie and Family,

Your mother was such a lady. I will always remember her as a true Southern lady who made such a difference in this world, as she reared a wonderful family. She was always so kind and loving to everyone. Weezy loved being the Kappa Mothers with her.

We will never forget her...bless all of you.
